LP on Bandcamp, out this Friday July 24 / single “Beach Ball” world premiere tonight around 6:30pm AEST on @thedistantskyrrr @3rrrfm

Last vinyl release on the label and might be the coolest thing I ever did :) after years of digging, tracking down old band mates and resurrecting 40+ year old demo tapes, including a live to air on @4zzzradio from ‘83, I’m over the moon to be releasing this record for my old man.

…and beyond the sweet story, it fucking rips!

Launching it this Saturday at Odd Ball 3: Marthouse Forever — reckon I can convince the @drsuresunusualpractice crew to learn a track or 2?

A post I can redirect peeps to when they submit to MH, always try to take the time to reply to peeps and give them some reccos cos I know how shitty it feels to send out your precious creations and get crickets.

A message if ur gettin crickets: Your art has value! Most peeps doin these indie/DIY/DIT labels are just fellow musos making stuff with/for pals, it’s a labour o’ love, so don’t get discouraged if u can’t find a label, just start your own imprint with some mates! It’s all make believe anyway mostly, if u dream it u can do it. If u say it’s a thing, then it is! You might even accidentally do it for 10 years.

Gonna turn on an auto response email to direct submissions here so if you’re a label or u know a good one I missed then drop it in the comments for people to discover.

The final vinyl release. Been a real joy bringing this together. Like excavating a treasure lost to the depths of time. Very stoked to have the opportunity to present my old man his debut album. 43 years in the making. Not a day too soon.

Thanks to Phil Shaw, Andrew Massie, Barbara Schmidt and Steven Clarke for making a banger record all those years ago. Thanks to Andrew for designing the original screenprinted poster which I reworked for the cover. Thanks to Sheena Dunn for the live shots I collaged on the back cover. Thanks to Erik Scerba for the 2026 remaster, and resuscitating some of the more degraded tapes. I reckon the tape flutter and wonkiness adds to the overall vibe. Thanks to Zenith for coming in clutch with a super speedy pressing, and for a decade of MHR pressing. Thanks to Kate for having us on RRR this week, Rolling Stone for picking up the story and the Dr Sure’s crew for learning Beach Ball to perform last week, safe to say Dadsy is having his 15 mins fame.

Alright alright I’ve called in a few favours these last coupla weeks and Adam at @teeitupscreenprinting has come thru with a last minny super special limited run of hoods and ringers 4 the big party tomoz 🙂 Adam’s done all the MH and Doc’s merch since the beginning of both, starting out of his shed. Love to see how far he’s come. Hit him up. Another muso making cool stuff for fellow musos 🫶🫶 note PINK SPARKLE “FOREVER” so hot

And my homie @archie.fitzgerald banged out this magical design !! I BELIEVE IN MAGIC. Archie made the art for the first ever MH vinyl release — @cracodile / @thebackstagram split in 2017!! Been collaborating on stuff ever since he lived up the road (and got tattooed in my bedroom) to more recently linking up all over the world.

The process of winding up this label has made me realise just how many beautiful creative relationships it has fostered. It’s hard to gauge “success” in the underground, but the love and support I’ve been shown recently has given me dat winning feeling.

It's almost time to bid farewell to one of Melbourne's finest, @marthouserecords.

Starting out as a simple sharehouse idea in 2016, Marthouse Records soon evolved into a proper DIY operation, releasing over 40 records and tapes, 100s of digital releases, and putting hundreds of shows and tours over a decade.

Ahead of Marthouse's farewell party, 'Odd Ball 3', in Melbourne this weekend, founder @dr___sure took part in our 'Making Music, Making Ends Meet' series, revealing what it was like to run a DIY label for 10 years.
