Finally, it’s off of my bucket list! 😭♥️🇯🇵✨

Seeing the Oiran Dochu or Oiran Parade has been on my bucket list for so long so I didn’t miss the opportunity to see it and I allotted one day of our Kanto trip just to go all the way to Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture to see it in person.

An Oiran is an elite courtesan during the Edo Period. They are known for their colorful Kimonos and pompous hairstyles. Similar to Geishas, they are also performers of arts like music and poetry.

You can experience an Edo Period vibe and watch different cultural presentations when you visit Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura in Nikko, Tochigi.

Special train at a regular cost! 🇯🇵✨🚉

This is the Kyo- Train of Hankyu Line which departs from Osaka- Umeda Station. The final stop is in Kyoto Kawaramachi. There is no extra fee to ride this special train; however, this train only runs during weekends and holidays.

TIP: It would be best to come early for this train as the line gets long easily. We started lining up 30 minutes before to guarantee a seat.

Here are the departure time of the train from Osaka Umeda Station: 9:32• 11:32• 13:32 • 15:32.

They say it brings good fortune! ✨🇯🇵♥️🙌

This hole is found in one of the pillars of Nara’s Todaiji Temple. This temple houses one of Japan’s great Buddha statues.

Also, Todaiji Temple is considered as one of the world’s largest wooden structures.

It is said that the pillar’s hole has the same size of the nose trill of the bronze Buddha statue it houses and will bring good fortune if you are able to go through it on your visit.

Honestly, it was really narrow and one should try at their own risk.

So what is an Oiran? 🇯🇵✨🪭

During the Edo Period, the Oirans reign in popularity.

They are courtesans who are elite and skilled in the arts, music, and entertainment.

A night with an Oiran costs the same as an average worker’s salary for an entire year.

In this era, Oirans no longer exist but a reenactment or performance such as this is still seen in period theme parks.

Crave for Yakiniku at anytime! 🥩🇯🇵🥢🤤

This is Osaka’s Nikuhachi that serves high quality meats 24 hours a day so whatever time it is, you can satisfy your yakiniku cravings.

What I especially liked about the dining experience were the food variety, the restaurant’s ambience, and the attentive staff. The menu has a wide selection of meat cuts and dishes. Also, they offer different seating arrangements like private rooms, counter tables, and tatami rooms suitable for different celebrations. There were English speaking staff so communicating was hassle-free.

I definitely recommend this restaurant if you like quality and flavorful yakiniku dining experience in Osaka.
