Egypt and Voice Part 1 of 4.

A lot of posts about Egypt lately, so I thought I'd share these thoughts from the Nile about how this land is the throat chakra of the planet and how important your voice is. Make sure you check out part 2.

What do you think they carved this here for? And why do some places like this feel familiar, like you've been here a thousand times??

This is a rare depiction of the seven gates and seven keys inside Karnak Temple. I stood here and activated this portal with my voice, and felt something move through me, connecting to timelines, to energy centres, to something ancient and alive.

Seven shows up everywhere, and always in places that matter. Seven heavens. Seven chakras. Seven musical notes. Seven days of creation. Seven realms. Seven colours inside every ray of light.

Was this a map of the Duat, the journey through the afterlife? A blueprint for initiation? A system for navigating the inner world using sound and frequency as the key?

The ancient texts describe it clearly: to pass through each gate, you had to know the name of its guardian. The key was the word. The key was the voice.

Maybe the temples were always pointing inward. Maybe these gates were more than just architecture.

For me there are more questions here than answers, and that is exactly where the magic lives.

I decided to create this piece after lockdown... I

have always been fascinated with the transformation of the butterfly... Actually starting with a nickname of Mariposa at school (probably due to an undiscovered neuro divergent brain)

But after the lockdown period I knew I wanted to create more joy...

And that the lifecycle of the butterfly was a perfect modality to share the story of Maja, a child with a big imagination who wanted to become a butterfly and fly all the way to the moon.

Ut was a joy to tour it... We had an amazing 4 year run touring to theatres and festivals all over the UK, and some beautiful casts and iterations of the show in that time.

That voice telling you you're not ready? It's not your real voice.

Beneath the critic lives a voice that knows exactly who you are.

Soft. Calm. Certain. It tells you that you are enough, that exactly as you are is exactly how you are supposed to be, and that the keys to your transformation are already in your hands.

The work is learning to hear it above the noise. Breath helps. Stillness helps. So does choosing which voice you follow.

When you let the quiet one lead, everything changes.

Your voice represents who you are.

So what do you do when you aren't happy with your voice and want to improve it? It can be difficult to know where to start.

To be honest with you, transformation begins with love and acceptance. If you're judging your voice, it's so much harder to improve on it.

Look at the pre-existing beliefs and judgments that you have on your voice. Where did they come from? When might somebody haslve said negative things about your voice and did you choose to believe them?

The good news is, you can transform your voice. You can change where your voice sits in your body, your speed, tone and dynamics. First, it's important to feel the true essence of your voice and let that flow.

Do you cringe when you hear your recorded voice? Here's how you fix that.

The voice you hear inside your head is often clear. What you hear when you're recorded sounds completely different, and that's because of where your ears are positioned and how the sound travels. Everyone experiences this.

Here's the exercise.

Pick a topic you're passionate about, something you can talk about for days. Take your phone out, set a timer for five minutes, and press record on your voice recorder. For a bonus, do it as a video.

Record for five minutes without pausing. Without starting again. Accept exactly what comes out of your voice.

Then watch it back.

Start to look at your voice. The dynamics. How fast are you talking. Do you pause. Do you breathe. Are you losing yourself. Are you saying um, you know, uh, and start to look at where those come from.

Often people have been told negative things about their voice and we carry that back into every recording. We also pick up unconscious ticks, things we use when we are thinking, things that are ready to be released.

Record for five minutes. Watch back. Repeat.

Soon your authentic voice will start to come out. And you will learn to love your voice again.

Here's a great trick for coming unstuck.

It's called the Sound Shake, and you can use it right now.

We all get stuck. Stuck scrolling, stuck in bad habits, stuck feeling like there's no way to move forward.

Here's what to do.

Let your voice and your body simultaneously shake while connecting to whatever stuckness you feel within you. The sounds can be beautiful, ugly, harmonious, silly. Resist performing and actually allow yourself to make these sounds from the core of your being.

Thirty seconds.

Then inhale, squeeze, and bring the energy all the way to the top. Visualise the change. Visualise the first step you're gonna take. And take it.

There is no wrong way to do it. Just start, give it a go, and let me know how it felt in the comments below.
