If I eat, we eat.

Words shared by panelist Mary Early, those were one of the main themes from our August DMV Creative Chat on Galleries and Post-Galleries, hosted at liberation (n.)(v.) studios; gallery in Brentwood. Five people who make art and also run the places where art gets seen: a commercial gallery, a nonprofit poetry museum, non-traditional arts spaces, a space inside a working freight elevator, and a shared studio built on purpose rather than convention.

We talked about what a gallery costs to stay running. What happens when a funder gets nervous about the work. Who a space is really for, and who gets brought into the space.
Thank you Julia Bloom (@juliasbloom @freightgallerydc ), Jason Bulluck (@jasonmbulluck) of liberation (n.)(v.) studios; gallery (@liberation.gallery.studios), Mary Early (@maryearly @hemphillartworks ), Nina Ligon (@baldheadqueen), and Sami Miranda (@tres_raices_arts @americanpoetrymuseum ) . And thank you to everyone who drove out to Brentwood on a Tuesday night.

Takeaways from the conversation coming soon.
