Do you own something you thought you didn’t need… until you got one?

I get it now, @thegraceclarkdelgado šŸ¤šŸ©µ

And I have a feeling this won’t be my last.

Grace knows me so well. She picked the @llbean Small with the zip top + long handles šŸ¤šŸ©µbecause she knows the Mini would be too small … I like to have my stuff with me!

I spent the first 49 years of my life in California, and it will always have my heart.🌓 But after 10 years in New York, I still get excited just walking these streets… even on a rainy day. by @maryeclark

NotešŸŽ¹ Meta removed the audio…so imagine Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance beginning with ā€œGod Bless Americaā€¦ā€ šŸŽ§ šŸ‡²šŸ‡½This exhibit in New York City was about Latino civil rights activism in the U.S., and there was so much here I didn’t know.

Mexican heritage runs through generations of my family, the one I was born into - my father, the family who raised me - my mom, and the family I raised.šŸ‡²šŸ‡½

I haven’t seen as much about Hispanic Heritage Month this year as I remember in recent years. I’m wondering why, but I have my thoughts.

We’re still celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, plenty of time to celebrate, learn something, and share your stories. by @maryeclark

This month marks 10 years in New York for me.

But it’s really only been the last couple of years I’ve felt more comfortable calling New York home.

So on the 25th anniversary of September 11, I wanted to show up for the place I call home now.

I volunteered for the first time at Godā€˜s Love We Deliver ā¤ļø as part of #911dayofservice

I met Vinny, Martin, Crystal, Robert and his niece… and spent a few hours giving back to this beautiful city.

Then I met Grace for lunch at a wonderful little spot we’ve never been to before, followed by one of those very New York moments … running into someone you recognize on the street, who stopped to talk and couldn’t have been sweeter.🩷

We made our way to Trinity Church for Remembrance: 9/11, with Fauré’s Requiem and Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna. šŸŽ» Listening to those beautiful voices, taking in the music and the moment, is something I’ll never forget.

I’ll always be a Southern California girl, but on this day … I was very grateful to be a New Yorker.

For those who were lost, those who loved them, and all who still carry September 11 with them.šŸ¤

In real time.

We love you forever, Dolly! Thank you, and God bless and keep you.🩷

ā€œBack through the years
I go wonderin’ once again
Back to the seasons of my youth
I recall a box of rags that someone gave us
And how my momma put the rags to use
There were rags of many colors
But every piece was small
And I didn’t have a coat
And it was way down in the fall
Momma sewed the rags together
Sewin’ every piece with love
She made my coat of many colors
That I was so proud of

As she sewed, she told a story
From the Bible she had read
About a coat of many colors
Joseph wore and then she said
Perhaps this coat will bring you
Good luck and happiness
And I just couldn’t wait to wear it
And momma blessed it with a kiss

My coat of many colors
That my momma made for me
Made only from rags
But I wore it so proudly
Although we had no money
I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me

So with patches on my britches
And holes in both my shoes
In my coat of many colors
I hurried off to school
Just to find the others laughing
And making fun of me
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me

And oh, I couldn’t understand it
For I felt I was rich
And I told ā€˜em of the love
My momma sewed in every stitch
And I told ā€˜em all the story
Momma told me while she sewed
And how my coat of many colors
Was worth more than all their clothes

But they didn’t understand it
And I tried to make them see
That one is only poor
Only if they choose to be
Now I know we had no money
But I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me
Made just for meā€ by @maryeclark

When I was younger, I thought the older women in my life had it all figured out… including themselves.

Now I wish I could ask my mom and my aunts what it really felt like to be 60.

I think it would help to know if they were still figuring out life, and themselves, too.

Maybe we’re all a little less sure than we look. And we keep going anyway.

That’s what I’m doing. Anybody else? by @maryeclark

Spring started with our trip home.🌓

SoCal visit day 2 ā˜€ļø delivered the best views at the Carlsbad Flower Fields!

But the best part was the surprise pieces from Santaā€˜s Village.šŸŽ…šŸ¼šŸŒ²

I hadn’t thought about it in years, but when I was about 10 my dad took me to Big Bear to buy a boat - and after, he took me to Santa’s Village for the afternoon. Just us two. It’s a really special memory for me.🄰

The Carlsbad Flower Fields acquired some of the pieces at auction and restored them - made my heart so happy.ā¤ļø taken in Carlsbad Flower Fields by @maryeclark

I think one of the very special things about being a parent is sharing the things and people you love with your kids.

For me, that’s Bruce Springsteen.

All my kids have gone with me.

Travis and I saw Bruce at the opening night of Staples Center in 1999. Again at The River Tour, 2016. And again at MetLife Stadium in 2023.

Adrian and I saw Bruce in 2009 with special guest Mike Ness from Social Distortion - LA Sports Arena.

Nicholas showed up for me in a BIG way in April, 2012 - about 6 months after my divorce started - he surprised me with tickets, I really needed that. ā¤ļø LA Sports Arena, special guest Tom Morello.

And then there’s Grace. 🩷 First show, just before she flew to Brazil for her senior trip, The River in 2016. New Jersey twice in 2023 - nowhere else do you get to experience ā€œJersey Girlā€ like that, had always been my dream. Baltimore, 2024. And now, Land of Hope and Dreams.

But the thing about Grace is, she’s become a fan, a huge fan actually. You know - she’s the girl who texts me that she’s listening to a LIVE album the entire way through, during her long commute. šŸŽ§ She spent her birthday šŸŽ‚ in Asbury Park, NJ … and loved it!

Grace has her hands-down favorites, like Rosalita, Wrecking Ball, and Thundercrack!

She still hasn’t forgiven me for not taking her with me to see him on Broadway (I took my sister) but I hope the last 4 shows since then have made up for it.

@thegraceclarkdelgado I love you and I love your love for BRUUUUUUCE! @springsteen

Sweetie, Until we see him next time!😘 taken in UBS Arena by @maryeclark
