: Ho‘omaika‘i Kimié @playkimie! Last night @nahokuhanohanoawards Kimié Miner graciously accepted 2 awards for: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💛Female Vocalist of the Year: Kimié Miner Music LLC for Kuʻu Hawaiʻi ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❤️EP (Extended Play) of the Year: Kuʻu Hawaiʻi Kimié Miner Music LLC ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I’m truly so honored to have spent the past months working tirelessly on her ensemble to finally arrive at this magical look that she envisioned and dreamt up with so much thought and intention — leaning on Ke Akua, her ‘Ohana’s history + Queen Lili‘uokalani. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ From the beginning of the design process, Kimié + I were aligned in incorporating Sustainable fabrication, Hawai‘i in the 1800’s and symbolic colors. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I believe my dear friend, Nadine Kam and very much missed mentors, Mamo Howell + Christopher Essex would be so proud of this honor and moment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Reading and seeing so many of Kimié’s ‘ohana, close friends to even people so happy to meet Kimié last night to personally thank her for the joy her music has brought to their lives, was so touching. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ke Akua blessed Kimié with such a beautiful voice + through her gift, she has shared and been a blessing to so many people here in Hawai‘i + all over the world!🙏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’re not already, pls follow @playkimie and the journey of this inspiring, unique and talented Mama of 3 little ones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Looking forward to sharing more of Kimié’s vision behind her head-to-toe look with you❣️Aloha nui x. :✈️🦘🌺 For those of you New here, I just wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself, particularly with October being Filipino American History Month. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🇵🇭My parents were born and raised in the Philippines, Mom is also part Chinese, Spanish. And both Mom + Dad migrated to Australia where my brother + i were born and raised. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It took me a very long, testing + challenging 8 years to finally become a US citizen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don’t take my citizenship for granted🙏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And challenging, because it wasn’t as simple as being married to Jason — who was born and raised in Southern California. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While marriage helped, there was more to the process, including countless flights back and forth from Honolulu to Sydney. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nowadays, I doubt the mandatory flights to check in with the Australian embassy are still required. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And then, I officially moved to Hawai‘i — a very special place that has always been close to my heart, because of its rich history + culture. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So much so, I’d ask my parents to always travel here as a stopover since my Mom worked for Qantas airways❣️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Over 21 years ago, all i wore were a pair of sterling silver studs, my Mother’s white gold, wedding band + a silver watch. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No gold. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➕Shorts, t-shirt, slippahs + lived in a hostel in Waikiki, where my roommate suggested i join her as an exotic dancer on Kuhio Avenue to earn a quick buck🫣. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I politely declined. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I thought l’d eventually work for a Fashion Design company in Honolulu. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This never happened. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My first job was working at Banana Republic @alamoanacenter. l’d walk to work most days, since the mall was close by. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then transitioned into Fashion Editorial as i enjoyed styling and writing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today, with a 17+ yr old brand + its sister named after the girls. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And after over 10 years of beach cleanups + a growing love for nature, animals and helping others, i look back + see my plan wasn’t exactly God’s plan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you for joining me on this journey @ki_ele + @kiarabyki_ele 💙💜🫶xx. : Even after 10 years of cleaning Hawai‘i’s beaches with Sustainable Coastlines @sustainablecoastlineshawaii + @surfrider, we will continue cleaning our planet’s shorelines 🙏🌏🐚 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And today, here in Dana Pt., I came across Maddie James’ quote, painted with a Sea Turtle on a utility box: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “My dream is that every Sea Turtle doesn’t eat a plastic bag,” said Maddie James, a 5-year-old kindergartner from Capistrano Beach, who passed within two months after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maddie enjoyed visiting the Ocean Institute @ocean_institute in Dana Point Harbor with her parents, so in memory of Maddie, the “Maddie James Seaside Learning Center,” was established. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Like Maddie, I’d love to see more care for our planet, especially our sea and wildlife🩵x. : Kicking-off October in 𝓚ailua. When I’m home, I try my best to spend time with the family 🙏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Spent time in Kailua with my oldest, Melia @meliakiara ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She suggested the Lanikai Pillbox hike, which due to the recent rains, wasn’t as slippery on the dry, steep dirt. Swipe for some other local first-time tries for us🥰🤙x. Marylea : The ‘Iwa bird (“great frigatebird”) is a large, graceful seabird, related to boobies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Famous for its 7.5-foot wingspan, aerial acrobatics, and habit of stealing food from other birds (dlnr.hawaii.gov). : with @meliakiara_ : Are we there yet?! But worth the view🙏 : taking a breather before the hike back down❣️ : “Twin Islands,” aka Nā Mokulua / “The Mokes” : quick dip @ Lanikai beach, because it was hot 🥵 : Melia noticed this cute stand across from Kailua Beach park! : Support local always 💙🤙 @kaohao.bakestand : Iced coffee + matcha to go! ☕️🍵😋 : Homemade’s da best!
