GIRLHOOD is a sacred existence that does not have an age limit. If anything, I feel it more strongly now in our collective 40s. After all, these are the women I was with when we all discovered it together. Scrambling in our suburban adolescence before we embarked on our big lives and big dreams. To share it now is more akin to a religious practice, a needed ritual dance- especially in today’s American skewed patriarchal system where being a female is an act of violence in itself. I love sharing my life with these women, now with our big lives, still with our big dreams. I love carrying their hopes and fears, failures and successes. Our friendship is my longest love affair. Our girlhood is my favorite act of rebellion.

Staged an actual Tornado of a first act in just 3 nights for a private developmental reading of @shelbspickles ‘ new play. Her work continues to inspire me and I’m so lucky to get eyes on it before the rest of the world.
Directed by the sharp @adayinthelifeoflb, costarring @thenamesbarker . Can’t wait for Act II.

And on a personal note, the other best part of working on creative things with my friends is that when I come home, exhausted, I am able to be a more present mom and person. I would go infinite more rounds of full childcare by day and all theatre by night if presented with it.
