Image text: What to expect when you come to an Experimental Phase! A mask mandatory & air filtered club night. Doors open at 6pm. We have a DJ playing music to dance to until 9pm when things switch over to being a different event (Rent Cheque). At around 7pm we have two performances then around 8pm another two performances and a curtain call. No advance ticket sales, just pay what you can at the door in cash or through a QR code to our PayPal. There's also an ATM inside by the entrance. The event is at The Cobalt in Vancouver, BC. Only a few blocks from the Main St. / Science World skytrain station. The performances are all focused around performers trying out new ideas, including our hosts who are often performers trying out hosting for the first time or again after a long hiatus. We often have 1-3 vendor tables set up by the entrance of local artists selling fun things and our own table of stickers, colorful masks, etc. We have free masks available at the door in case you don't have a N95/KN95 mask of your own. If any issues arise of someone not masking or you feeling unsafe please inform the door person or producer and we will address it however needed. At 9pm the venue switches over from being Experimental Phase into Rent Cheque and at that time will no longer be a mask mandatory event. We supply an industrial HEPA air filter that purifies 3,075 sq feet every half hour set next to the dance floor as well as a smaller HEPA filter and air quality monitor that is placed on the stage. Around the stage and dance floor will be marked with tape on the floor as designated 100% masks stay on "Mask Zone" sections. In the back and bar area where the tables & chairs are is where you can take your mask off momentarily to have drinks.All staff and performers will also be masked as well as having done COVID tests before going to the venue, we share photo proof. Venue is ground level. Little bump near the entrance at the moment, but still wheelchair accessible. Gender-free stalls & 1 wheelchair accessible private bathroom. We don't use smoke machines or strobing lights. Earplugs, snacks, menstrual products, harm reduction supplies, etc are available if needed near entrance. by @maskquerade.events

You can be a newer burlesque performer or performer who hasn't worked in a long time, being a seasoned performer is not required. The whole point of the show portion of these events is for performers to try out new things on a low stakes stage for fun.
By applying to perform you're agreeing to wear a n95/kn95 type mask at the events including while performing on stage (you can decorate, put another type of mask on top of it, etc) and to take COVID tests and selfies with them before the events. by @maskquerade.events

International burlesque performer/composer from Vancouver, BC whose claws have scratched parts of UK’s underground cabaret realm, and across Canada. Since 2019, they debuted at the Vancouver Burlesque Co’s student showcase in 2021 and continued with Twisted Tassels, Bonus Stage, Geekenders, and continue to write experimental compositions. They hold a Master’s degree in Music Composition at Goldsmiths University, they are ready to dance-fight into sensual oblivion with their new strings polygamous power!!!

Last performer announcement, our favorite silly goose @itsgnarleigh 🪿💙

Gnarleigh is a high-energy, silly ball of sideshow shenanigans. They are creeping and crawling their way into the drag + burlesque scene, and they want to do it all! As the second runner up for the Vancouver drag competition: Drag Derby, the runner up for Kingdom, and the winner of the 2026 Silly Goose Award, today they are coming to you bald. And blue. Gnarleigh is here to infiltrate your mind and dance around in there for as long as you'll let them. Buckle in for a whirlwind of colourful clown-y energy that will leave you confused but also super stoked.

Sometimes she makes sense. Sometimes she doesn’t. Sometimes it’s beauty and grace... sometimes it’s none of those things. Sometimes it’s on a stage, sometimes it’s on the floor. Bringing an act that gives a nod to her friend Bob Log 111... if you know him it helps, but probably still doesn’t explain anything. She is not from outer space. She is from Mount Pleasant.

Another announcement! It's @seraphinavelvet 🧡

Its Seraphina Velvet; a vivacious vixen from Vancouver. She's been seen gracing the stage with BHoF winning Pin Up Posse group + has been spotted this year in Vermont Burlesque Festival and Kootenay Burlesque festival.
She gets her name from the Seraphim - mostly because she is angelic, strikes fear into the hearts of mortals, and will bring you to your knees. So hold onto your hats and pray for forgiveness, this kitty is ready to throw up and throw down.

Emerging from the darkest, most delicious depths of the cosplay to burlesque pipeline, Angora Phobia has disturbed and delighted audiences with her bold and brutalful blend of horrifying hilarity all over the Pacific Northwest from Victoria to Whistler, the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival and MetalesqueFest in Portland, Oregon! Crowned the Silliest Goose at 2024’s VIBF Diamonds in the Buff Industry Awards (as well as a three-time Judge’s Choice award winner at H. Cupcake Productions’ Cosplay Swimsuit Contest and the Hobby Horse Show Jumping Champion of 2023), Angora couldn't be happier to kick summer out the door and revel in her full power this Halloween season as an even more unrepentant nightmare sex clown.
