My summer project has been to build a cabinet for this gorgeous kitchen room box, which was designed and built by Greg Britton @empireminis . The cabinet was a kit I have had for many years by B.H. Miniatures, and picking my own colours gave me something that worked better than any of the cabinets I already had. I need a few more accessories to complete the room, but I love how it is turning out.

The table, bench and chairs by Cindy Malon and the plate with apples by @levyminiatures were generous gifts from a dear friend and inspired the decor.

New plants from the first workshop of the year @metminis with @fayleisorek

I didn’t know where I was going to put them when I made them, but I love the colour on this veranda.

The chair and footstool are by Kim Stewart @miniaturewicker

The punch needle rug is a pattern from Hooked on Rugs, and it the first punch needle project I ever did.

I painted the watering can after a class with Francis Culham. This wasn’t the one from the class, but I had so much fun doing it that I painted several more in different colours while the lesson was fresh.

At long last, I have finally upholstered one end of this magnificent trunk. I would normally have waited to stitch everything before upholstering, but I needed to know if it was going to work in case I needed to make adjustments. Happily, it works as intended! Trunk on stand by Bob Hurd, painting by Claire Globensky and petit point by me (based on a Dutch painting). Lot's of stitching still to do, but I'm thrilled to reach this milestone. And very grateful to Bob and Claire for their amazing work!

I bought a painting by Roxanne Brathwaite @suitecitywoman recently, and loved it so much I had to get a couple more. I’ve struggled to find the right art for my wine bar for years, and Roxanne’s palette was just the thing. So satisfying when it comes together.

I’m the proud new owner of a gorgeous kitchen room box by Greg Britton @empireminis . Of the many kitchen dressers I have in my collection this one, made by me in a Bob Hurd @igmaguildschool class, is the best fit. But I think this is a good excuse to make this B. H. Miniatured kit I’ve had stashed away for a long, long time. Planning a new setting is the most fun!

I’ve been working on this project for a very long time. I commissioned a beautiful needlepoint trunk on stand from Bob Hurd. I initially thought I would duplicate the original needlepoint, but the photos I had were not clear enough for that. Then I tried several period appropriate designs, but none I liked. I finally settled on a design sort of similar to the original and stitched the front. While I like it, it wasn’t right. Then I decided on two paintings for inspiration - one for the sides and the other for the front and top. But charting it was not easy and the only way I could perfect it was through trial and error with the stitching. I started over several times, most recently November 1. Although I finally finished a piece without starting over, there was a lot of frogging going on! But, I finally have something I love and know will work. One piece down and five to go. 😊

I have a little collection of large and small sculptures made by the incredibly talented metal sculptor and musician Sam Ferrara. One of his signature themes are whimsical miniature pin people. I am always amazed that a safety pin can look so graceful and lifelike. I picked up these pieces at his art show this weekend (today is the last day). Check out @samferrara17

I’m a big fan of @igmaguildschool virtual learning classes. This year I am taking the Tiffany lamp with @esthersminiatures . What an amazing project! I’ve admired Esther’s gorgeous lights for a long time and finding painting with a toothpick surprisingly relaxing. So much fun.

I’ve been busy with projects but haven’t posted in a while. The one that has prompted me to finally post is this chair! It’s a collaboration with the very talented Alberto @aegminiatures for a @metminis workshop in the fall. I love how it looks in this room…and I still need to make some books. Thanks so much Alberto!

I have done a few projects this year that involved making mosaics or tiles. These are the prototypes for a class I will be teaching at the 2024 Ontario Miniatures Gathering next spring. Their theme is “Dig it Up” so we’ve got some archeological fragments and a garden stone. This will be my first time teaching at the Gathering. Should be fun!
