The book launch of “Luck in the Piazza Maggiore,” (shans Dar meydan e maggiore ) written by my dear, talented, and highly valued artist friend, Pedram Ejtemaei, has come to an end, and our dear guests have each returned to their own cities and homes. Yet, for me, what remains from this gathering is far more than simply the memory of a book launch.
Meeting and spending time with such distinguished and thoughtful writers who had come from different parts of the country was a truly valuable and delightful experience. Having the opportunity to meet people, each accomplished in their own field and rich in thought and experience, was something I deeply appreciated.
My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for being there. I sincerely hope that this wonderful acquaintance will be the beginning of many more encounters, conversations, and shared moments in the future.

The group exhibition Remembering Father has come to an end;
but for me, the end of the exhibition is not the end of a memory.
Among broken mirrors, photographs, and a camera, I found myself returning to the past—to my father, and to words that have stayed with me for years:
“Take photographs that others have not taken.”
This exhibition was an attempt to revisit his way of seeing; to search for my father among the fragments of time and memory.
My sincere thanks to the organizers, the artists, and everyone whose presence and support became part of this memory.
Remembering Father has ended,
but I am still a student of his way of seeing.

Revisiting a Self-Portrait: Beyond an Installation
This work is not only an installation; it exists between installation, performance, and participatory art.
Within the space of the work, broken mirrors are not merely surfaces of reflection; they become fragments of memory and narrative.
By placing myself in front of these reflections and creating photographs, I continue an experience that began years ago with my father's Kodak box camera and his self-portrait made through broken mirrors.
At the same time, visitors become part of the artwork by photographing themselves through these reflections, each contributing a new layer to its evolving story.
Here, the image is not only captured; it is continuously recreated.

Revisiting a Self-Portrait is an installation presented in the group exhibition Remembering Father.
Bringing together broken mirrors, an old Kodak box camera, and a personal memory, the work explores memory, inheritance, the passage of time, and ways of seeing across generations.
Every artwork has a story behind it. This is the story behind the creation of Revisiting a Self-Portrait.
I Am Still a Student of His Way of Seeing
Years ago, while my father was watering the garden, I showed him my photographs as a photography student, eager to hear his opinion.
After looking at them, he said:
"Take photographs that no one else has taken."
That simple sentence changed the course of my vision. It encouraged me to look beyond the mere recording of a moment and to search for what is not immediately visible.
He then told me about his first photographic experience: a self-portrait made with a Kodak box camera, using the reflections of broken mirrors.
To me, that image was never just an old photograph. It became a symbol of the human search for oneself among the scattered fragments of life and time.
In this work, the broken mirrors are more than visual elements; they are fragments of memory. Every crack reflects part of a story, just as memory never restores the past in its entirety, but reconstructs it through fragments, interpretations, and emotions.
The old camera stands among these reflections, forming a bridge between my father's first photographic experience, his way of seeing the world, and my own.
This work unfolds between two generations, two technologies, and two ways of seeing. Yet at its core lies a shared question:
How can we see what has never been seen before?
Revisiting a Self-Portrait is an attempt to return to the origin of a way of seeing—to the moment when one image and one sentence shaped an artistic vision.
I am still searching for what my father taught me years ago:
To see what others have not seen.
And I am still a student of his way of seeing.
