K-Pop Witch Academy is out in the world! Exactly 11 months ago, on the first day that our editorial director, @fionascoble_books , joined Do Re Mi, we sat at lunch and got talking about how we’d love to do a K-pop related book. Both my 7-year-old daughter and I are big k-pop fans, and with k-pop’s rising popularity around the world, it seemed like a great time to tackle this project. Fi, who was the editor of the wildly popular Unicorn Academy, said that great middle grade fiction ‘mashes up’ two themes. At that lunch, we decided to make K-Pop Witch Academy 🪄 And to publish it before Christmas 2026 😱

Fi took on writing it herself, and we got the talented illustrator @jennummi on board, and the amazing cultural consultant @koreanbilly to help us keep everything accurate.

What resulted is an incredibly fun story full of magic, adventure and heart. It’s genuinely such good read.

We went full-colour with tonnes of illustrations, hoping that this will be an appealing read that will cross age groups, and be attractive to kids that might read a lot of manga and comics but hesitant to get into fiction.

Big love to @polya_plavinskaia for taking on the mammoth of a design project, and Felicity Awdry for the beautiful production and somehow managing to pull the printing off in time!

And to Mauro Spagnol and the team at Books Everywhere selling foreign language rights in over 30 territories, helping make K-Pop Witch Academy a global sensation! 🤩

Happy to say this book has been selected for WH Smiths Travel Kids Book Club! Available NOW in bookshops and online retailers! Coming in 2027 to North America 🌟 by @massivecrush

September publishing: Animal Taxis by Ponpoconnn 🐶🚕 out now!

Animal Taxis was one of those books led entirely by the artwork. I came across Japanese artist Ponpoconnn’s series of illustrations online of taxis, which are animals, being ridden by other animals. There was something so interesting and amusing about the imagery, and the naive style of artwork was just lovable. For the publishing decisions surrounding this book, the key seemed to be to simplify around the core idea. From the story, to the title, to the cover design, we pared them back as much as possible. I’m so happy with the result! Thank you @ponpoconnn for putting your trust in us! @doremi_books by @massivecrush

It’s publication day of my book All You Can Eat! It’s a catalogue style board book for babies and toddlers with 50 (?!) pages! I’m so proud of this. It really exemplifies the kind of books I wanted to publish when starting Do Re Mi. I made it thinking about what’s really going to interest and engage the child reader at the end - or what they’ll find funny. After reading hundreds of books with my two kids, this is all I really cared about. This book took over a year to make (partly because we were starting a business at the same time)! But also because I was still inexperienced as an illustrator. It was so frustrating to level up in this process - and I couldn’t publish it if it wasn’t on par with our other books. But I’m so glad I stuck with it because I am such a better artist now! Thank you to our wonderful designers @polya_plavinskaia and @mylene.mozas who helped me bring this book to life. Available now in from booksellers in the UK and EU and Asia, and next year in the US and Canada! @doremi_books by @massivecrush

So incredibly proud to be coming out with my first book! It’s a tiny but chunky board book (50 pages!) all about FOOD. I’m hoping with its many pictures and interesting characters it will be engrossing for tiny readers. I first came across this format for a book when my son was 1. He would spend maybe 15 MINUTES at a time just flicking through the pages on his own. I wanted to make my own version of this kind of captivating book! It’s part of the new Chock-a-Blocks series we’re doing at Do Re Mi, in which @maiajudith is releasing a book too!

Ever since before I had kids or became an illustrator, I’ve loved children’s books. I used to casually collect them, especially on trips to Japan, where picture book illustrations often have this loose and artistic quality or otherwise have licence to be quite unique and strange. I never really considered making one until last year, when I proposed collaborating on one with my husband @samvoulters, who can write. He was jobless at the time, so this idea naturally escalated into starting our own children’s publisher 😅 Luckily, we were just naive enough to actually go for it… I’m not sure how we managed it, but we now have 14 books set out to publish next year with global distribution deals! Creating children’s books with my favourite illustrators and artists is the best job in the world. Here are some of the books we’ve been working on. Please follow @doremi_books for updates on our business📚 I can’t wait to share more! by @massivecrush
