The details are what give a space its character.

A study in texture, contrast, and warmth where natural materials, greenery, and light work together to shape the atmosphere of the room.

Not every design decision needs to demand attention. Sometimes it’s how everything comes together that makes the space memorable. by @mateoumana_

A residential elevation isn’t just about the shape of a house it’s about proportion, rhythm, materiality, and the details that give a design its identity.

This is another exploration of that balance: clean, timeless, and intentional.

Atmosphere is part of the architecture.

A hospitality space should do more than accommodate people. It should create a feeling.

This concept explores a balance between warmth and sophistication through natural stone, rich wood, dark metals, layered lighting, and greenery. Each material was selected to add depth and character while creating a cohesive experience throughout the space.

From the bar to the dining areas and rooftop terrace, the goal was to create moments that feel intimate, elevated, and connected to their surroundings.

I’m increasingly drawn to hospitality design because of its ability to combine architecture, interiors, lighting, materiality, and human experience into one environment.

The details matter.
The atmosphere matters.
And ultimately, how a space makes you feel matters most.

Circulation can be part of the experience.

Rather than treating the stair as simply a connection between floors, it becomes a moment within the space — framing the dining room and adding another layer to the experience.

The dining experience is about more than the table.

Layered lighting, warm oak, textured walls, and carefully scaled seating create an atmosphere that feels intimate without feeling formal.

Beauty meets function.

Behind the scenes, the bar is designed around the people who make the experience possible with a layout that supports service while keeping the design language consistent.

Bringing the outside in.

Framed views, warm lighting, and comfortable lounge seating create a space that feels connected to the city without competing with it.

Materiality sets the tone.

A little something I’ve been working on lately: residential elevations.

One area I’ve been intentionally pushing myself to improve is understanding the architectural side of design particularly residential elevations, wall assemblies, and roof design.

Coming from an interior design background rather than an architectural school, learning how a wall actually comes together, how to design a roof, how proportions translate from plan to elevation, and how all of those pieces work together has been challenging in more ways than one.

A lot of it has been trial and error. Some things work, some things definitely don’t, and there’s always something new to figure out. But that process has also been one of the most rewarding parts of growing as a designer.

Every day is an opportunity to learn something new, challenge yourself, and become a little better than you were the day before.

I’m realizing more and more that being a great designer isn’t about being exceptionally good at one thing. It’s about developing an overall understanding of how all the different pieces work together from the big picture down to the details. Photorealistic rendering of a large two-story residential home with a white brick exterior, warm cedar-shake roof, dark-framed windows, and a wood double front door. The symmetrical façade features two prominent front-facing gables and a covered entry. A landscaped front yard with manicured hedges, white hydrangeas, mature trees, and a stone walkway leads to the entrance.
