Exciting news! MathsWorld London has joined the Blue Peter badge scheme, so now kids go FREE with a paying adult if they have a Blue Peter badge! ⁠

Just head to mathsworld.com and book your free Blue Peter badge holder ticket. ⁠
⁠
To gain free entry, each child must show staff a Blue Peter badge, a valid Blue Peter badge ID card and be accompanied by a full paying or concessionary adult. If a paying adult is accompanied by two children with badges and valid badge cards, free entry will be given for both children. If a disabled badge holder is accompanied by a registered carer, both can gain free entry. Carers must bring supporting documents.⁠

Can machines make art? Let’s build one and find out! ⁠

Join @beyondblocksuk to build a pattern-making machine from LEGO® bricks at MathsWorld this half term. Start with one of our specially designed bases, then engineer a pen holder and modify your model to discover how your changes affect the patterns it creates. Get your machine drawing, then experiment. Move the pen, change the mechanism and modify your design. How does each change transform the pattern? And if your machine created it, who made the art — you or the machine?⁠
A hands-on challenge combining engineering, creativity and maths, where the machine you build determines the art you make.⁠

This activity is included with your MathsWorld entry ticket, and will be running on the following dates:⁠
24th/25th Oct and 31st/1st Nov 11am-12.30pm and 1-2.30 pm.⁠

This question is very similar to one included in the 2026 year 6 SATS paper. You could work it out in different ways, but the most efficient technique uses logic and patterns. Did you get it right, and how did you come to your answer? ⁠

This time last week we were busy setting up for the Pseudorandom Ensemble show at MathsWorld! It was a wonderful evening, thoroughly enjoyed by all the performers, and I think by all of the audience!
