POSTS STORIES REELS

Production days are long, hot and rarely as tidy as the finished bottles make them look.

We prepare the ingredients, cook each recipe, blend the sauce and fill every bottle in small batches here in Melbourne.

Different sauces require different ingredients and processes, but the goal stays the same: make something that tastes good before worrying about how hot it is.

Real ingredients. Small batches. Flavour first.

This is the work behind every bottle of Mat’s Hot Shop.

What part of the production process would you like to see more of?

From Melbourne to Tokyo. Pretty special seeing our sauces on the shelves here.

Dropped into @hotsaucebar_official to chat with Nori about Mat’s Hot Shop in Japan, Peachango Tango being a top seller, why Dillan is a favourite, and how he turns it into a burger sauce with a little mayo.

One of my favourite parts of making sauce is hearing what people put it on. Getting to have that conversation in Tokyo makes it even better.

If you’re visiting, pop in, try a few sauces and say hello to Nori.

What’s your go-to way to use Dillan? Have you purchased Peachango Tango in Japan before? by @matshotshop

Five Aussie brands you need to know about 🌶️

A hot-sauce edit for people who like their heat with flavour:

@matshotshop — Peachango Tango: peach, mango and habanero with medium heat.

@melbournehotsauce — Habanero Mango: fruity heat with a touch of cardamom.

@unclemungos — Chipotle BBQ: smoky, sweet and a milder 3/10 heat.

@grumpygarys — Garlic Hot Sauce: red chilli, garlic and an 8/10 kick.

@obchillico — Smoked Garlic Chilli Sauce: medium heat and smoky garlic.

Five independent Australian brands, each bringing something different to the table.

IT’S HERE 🐘🌶️

BUTTER CHICKEN HOT SAUCE — our new collaboration with @auntyjenny.au

We took everything we love about butter chicken and turned it into a hot sauce.

Made with Aunty Jenny’s Butter Chicken Spice Blend, fresh cayenne and habanero chillies, tomato, ginger and coconut cream, it’s rich, tangy and packed with those warm, savoury butter chicken flavours.

The heat sits around MEDIUM — enough chilli to keep things interesting without taking over the flavour.

Pour it over chicken, eggs, chips and rice, load it onto a kebab or sandwich, or put it pretty much anywhere that could use a little butter chicken magic.

Who are you bringing to take on the hottest sauce? by @matshotshop

You start a hot sauce company because you love making hot sauce.

Then you realise making the sauce is only part of it.

Filling. Capping. Labelling. Packing. Cleaning. Then doing it all over again.

There’s a lot that goes into every bottle before it lands on your shelf.

Made by us, right here in Melbourne. by @matshotshop
