RSA Projects Gallery presents “The Archive as a Mirror” by Matthew Damato, a Portland-based creative. This solo exhibition is a reflection of Matthew’s influences, interests, and obsessions and weaves together risograph printing, photography, and mixed media work. A research library will be provided by Ambulatory Archives to showcase how art-historical references impact his present work. Matthew hopes to start a dialogue surrounding research, collecting, archiving, and the importance of printed material today. The showroom will host a large collection of books, magazines, and ephemera, running the gamut from tattoo culture to modern art to physique photography. Available to the community as a free resource, this curated library encourages slow browsing and open discovery, revealing the fluid relationships between printed matter, the surrounding artwork, and the ideas they hold. The Opening Reception will be held on Friday July 31st 2026, 5-9PM with music, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, exclusive merch, and the artist in attendance. Free to the public! Certain rare publications and site-specific installations available during opening weekend only. Some of my favorite artworks at the Kunstsammlung K21 museum in Düsseldorf. @kunstsammlungnrw Via their program, “The K21 in the historic Ständehaus is the museum for contemporary art, which hosts groundbreaking special exhibitions with internationally renowned artists in addition to its comprehensive and top-class collection.” #museum #modernart #inspiration #arthistory #painting by @mattactually
Some of my favorite artworks at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. @vangoghmuseum Via their program, “Van Gogh experienced life and the world intensely and wanted his art to portray the great themes of life, such as hope, love, anxiety and suffering. Explore the on-going search of an artist who was constantly trying to improve himself. In this way, you get a new view of an artist you thought you knew.” #museum #modernart #inspiration #arthistory #painting by @mattactually
Some of my favorite artworks at the Kunstsammlung K20 museum in Düsseldorf. @kunstsammlungnrw Via their program, “In response to the challenges and crises of the twentieth century, artists embarked on a journey to question the world and explore new horizons. While art provided havens and spaces for reflection, it also functioned as both a mirror and an engine for social change. The K20 Collection’s newly redesigned presentation weaves together the diverse histories of abstraction with contemporary issues.” #museum #modernart #inspiration #arthistory #painting by @mattactually
