Étoile! For my art show this Spring @sidestreetartspdx gallery! The fireflies, bugs 🐞 and flowers 🌺 in this painting have taken me two years to paint 🎨This painting signifies the delicate balance between life and death and the recycling back into the earth of all natural things that grow into other living things in an infinite cycle. 🔁 while I’m painting I get into a headspace where I try to commune with nature and examine all the tiny things we don’t see or take for granted. The fog rolls in between tall trees and my imagination also takes over:-) ❤️ lots more moths and butterflies to add to this.

Can you find the baby butterflies in this? Droplets of water? by @matteoneivert

In process for my exhibition @sidestreetartspdx gallery this Spring 2027! This is mid-way through. Renaissance artists used rose madder over a green-ish underpainting for translucent skin but it faded over time so here I’m using a glaze of Alizarin Crimson with Burnt Siena. I’m going to spray paint the background with some teal and neon pink spray paint then add bubbles all over -I KNOW DARING… Art breaks all rules! I think 🤔 her upper lip is too curled I might soften it… or should I leave it!? by @matteoneivert

Did this vid so you can see the size of the painting and all the details moving in front of you. Originally there was a snake about to eat the large owl and it became a root behind it and the tree the large owl stands on was not broken. At the last minute I added the light streaming through the trees to show the magic a forest contains. These owls make a beautiful family :-) each one has so much personality I tried to envision their lives and stories. An old soul in the baby owl on the branch. A mischievous owl on the mushroom… lost baby owls in a pile of leaves that are so cute and innocent. 🦉 💕

So you can see the scale of this painting 🖼️ I’m 6’2” and the painting is 4 feet tall. It took me a few years to paint 🎨!

A home is where you make the feeling of home 🏠 happen. This painting is about the magic of owls and their connection to the forest 🌳 How they often take on other children as their own and raise them like chosen family. The main barnyard owl 🦉 is conducting the scene as mischievous baby owls take over the landscape. One baby owl 🦉 balances on a precarious branch looking like a miniature old man, another pretends to be still on a giant mushroom and two babies hide in leaves. 🍁 Moths chase the sunlight in the glow of dusk framed by beautiful weeds of thistles and dandelions signifying clarity, strength, bounty and beauty. ❤️ 🦉

This is being painted in reverse -usually I get the background done first, but I decided it needed a dark forest framing it with branches and dreamy mist. Darkness is comforting sometimes 🖤 and fireflies are just MAGNIFICENTLY MAGICAL! 💡 🧡 by @matteoneivert

As a child I felt like I was born into the wrong era and would write these sort of Baroque or Victorian poems obsessed with death and life. In the spirit of those emotions and my inner dramatic yet silly dark child I’ve written text to accompany this painting 🖼️ which I’ve been working on for years… In the darkness there js always light 💡 I’m so glad I have my art to lean on when I’m feeling sad. Hugs 🥰 and love ❤️ to all who need light in their life right now! by @matteoneivert
