“The circular city starts with community”

We’re pleased to be part of The Circular City Starts With Community, presented by @morrisand.company for London Design Festival 2026.

The exhibition explores how circular economy principles can reshape the way we design, build, make and live in our cities, bringing together material reuse, local fabrication, community enterprise and resource sharing.

Matter Forms presents circular material innovation shaped by local waste streams and community.

Honoured to be part of another wonderful @the_rhs flower show at Badminton.

“For All That Comes In Remains”, Matter Forms fabricated our first Oyster[Crete]® outdoor countertop and landscape setts, bringing recycled oyster shells into an award-winning garden that celebrates circular design and regenerative landscapes.

There was something particularly fitting about using Oyster[Crete]® in Flourish in the City, a garden celebrating London’s urban landscape. Developed from reclaimed London oyster shells, the material reflects our vision for a new neo-vernacular material language, where architecture and landscapes are shaped by the resources, waste streams and identities of their own region. By reimagining discarded oyster shells into a lasting architectural material, Oyster[Crete]® gives London’s own material culture a new expression.

A closer look at our Oyster[Crete]® setts.

Hand-cast from reclaimed oyster shells, each 100 × 100 × 30–50 mm sett reveals its own unique mineral texture and character.

One of our favourite details from All That Comes In Remains.

Given an open brief by @abistoyle_garden , we designed a series of Oyster[Crete]® landscape setts inspired by naturally weathered stone. A bespoke mould captures the irregular surface of geological rock, giving each cast a unique character.

In collaboration with @matter.forms we created a bespoke packaging design for their @oystercrete ‘Mini Vessels’. Our packaging was crafted using our Calico PaperTex material and finished with a two layer, letter-press print with a soft beige background and black ink lettering.

Inspired by London floral silhouettes, we developed a design that was carefully pressed into the packaging to creates texture, depth and a unique feel to each piece. ✨

Created for @addleshawgoddard, the sponsors of the ‘Flourish in the City’ garden at @the_rhs Chelsea Garden Show 2026 designed by @carygardendesionstudio 🌿🌷

A fun commission we’ve been working on over the past few weeks.

Fragment Stool_ST_01 continues the Fragment series first presented at Lake Como Design Festival, translating ideas from the collection into a functional piece.

It’s been a lot of fun spending the last few weeks at Peanut Factory, prototyping, fabricating and refining every detail. Grateful to collaborate with such an incredible team and workshop @atelier.wama @kaekatz

The stool is now installed at HAKKŌ Matcha Bar in Aarhus. If you’re nearby, go grab a matcha and check it out.

In this project, we collaborated with @fibrelab to create the first bespoke crinkled PaperTex lantern, transforming textile waste into a lighting application.

Crafted from tissue-weight PaperTex, each sheet is made from 100% recycled, undyed calico fibres. The material is primarily cotton-based but can also incorporate natural fibres such as linen, silk and leather, offering a wide range of textures and finishes.

The design concept and visualisation were developed by our founder, @thegrayhaus, drawing on her background in architecture and interior design.
