“If you can dream it, you can do it.” Yes, Walt Disney originally said this. But you lived it, Bret.

I can’t quite wrap my mind around this loss. I’ve experienced loss before…older family members, people I loved. But this hits differently. You’re the first friend I’ve lost, and that changes everything.

I spent the past hour deciding which photo to share, and this one felt right. I mean, who else but you shared so fully in my love of all things Disney.

While I’m feeling many things in this moment, I know this much: I’ll miss you dearly.

I’ve never met someone quite like you. You were kind, courageous, quick-witted, and unabashedly authentic to your core. You were full of laughter and smiles, and pure joy. You were also transparent, open, and a true role model.

From the moment we connected in 2020, I knew you’d change my life. You went from a stranger in a business coaching group, to my weekly accountability partner, to one of my first paying clients. And ultimately, one of my dearest friends.

You always ended every conversation with, “How can I support you?” That’s who you were. As a friend, husband, father, performer, and human. You cared deeply about others, about our community, about humanity.

The funny part (and something we often joked about) is that after five years of weekly Zoom calls, texts, and voice notes… we never actually met in person. I only wish we’d made our plans happen sooner. For Matt and me to visit you, Stephen, and Maverick in Orlando.

I’m sure I’ll find more words in time. But for now, thank you for being you, Bret. You helped me grow into a better business owner, a better husband to Matt, and a better friend to many. You encouraged me to chase the dreams that scared me, push through the uphill climbs, and savor every win, no matter how small.

For Stephen and Maverick: may you always feel Bret’s love surrounding you. In the quiet moments, the laughter, and the memories that live on in our hearts.

And to Bret: thank you for believing in me before I fully believed in myself. I’ll keep working on those dreams. Save a pair of mouse ears for me, buddy. See you in Tomorrowland 💙
