Full speed pompano dorado two days ago. And full speed yellowfin yesterday’s trip. More hurricanes brewing down below. Should be pushing some more warm water up, and more of the El Niño stuff up. Let’s see what the next couple weeks bring to our waters. Book a trip. Plenty of dates available. by @mattressthomas

Why only keep two of those bonito you ask? A little payback because of my stupidity, or letting my guard down a little. Double jig strike. Pull the first one in. It ate the big rapala. So I decided to gill it and grab the pliers, mistake number one. It shook as they do. And drove the hook into my palm, that feeling of looking down and no longer seeing the barb of the hook because it’s in your flesh is not a good feeling. So I ask the guys to grab some pliers to remove this fuckin 9 pound or something bonito so I can try to get the hook out. They weren’t very plier savvy, so against my better judgement and slight panic I grab the pliers with my right hand , thing fuckin goes ballistic drops outta my hand with the rapala still stuck…. Well guess what was down below that..? The other bonito with the halco lazer pro hanging outta its face. It shakes, and wouldn’t you know it. I just double down on giant bonito stuck to my left arm. That one drove it right into the forearm, way in. So now I got two bonito doing bonito things attached to my flesh. In the mean time the one on my hand ripped it passed the barb thank god. I managed to pin them down a good enough to pull the lures outta their faces. First one was semi easy. Was able to cut it passed the barb and slide it out. The damage was done. Forearm the thing was so far in it folded my forearm flesh up and was pinned in there. I tried to push it thru but it wasn’t going. So I bit the bullet and pulled it along. It stopped half way and I gave it one more good pull and it ripped out. Holy fuck. Almost worse case scenario just unfolded in front of me in a few minutes. My arm and hand are sore as shit right now. Lesson learned. Make sure you record it and be more careful. What happened was pure nightmare material. by @mattressthomas

Little filleting action on the way back in from a trip today. We landed 5 yellowtail and lost just as many. Open days the next few weeks if you would like to get out let me know. @leftcoastsportfishing #fishing #charterboat #danapoint by @mattressthomas

Clip of the first time this is thing came up. If I had a flying gaff at that point I may have stuck it. But all I had was standard gaffs. That fish was still very lit up at that point. Also the moment it came off. #swordfish #bummer by @mattressthomas

I don’t think I posted this to my page from last year. We somehow snagged a baby oarfish. Pretty wild. It’s very rare to see a fully grown one, not sure how rare to see a baby..but I for one have never seen or heard of one this small. by @mattressthomas
