As some of you saw today with the @guitarist_mag and @guitarworldmagazine posts, Today, Matt’s Guitar Shop is proud to reveal one of the most remarkable rediscoveries in vintage guitar history.

This is Eric Clapton’s long-lost 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard – the guitar acquired from Andy Summers after the disappearance of the famous “Beano” Les Paul, and the instrument that accompanied Eric into the legendary Cream era.

Played during the recording of Fresh Cream and throughout the band’s earliest performances, this guitar helped shape one of the most influential sounds in rock and blues history.

After almost 60 years away from the spotlight, it now resurfaces for the very first time.

It has already returned to the stage in the hands of our friends @joebonamassa , @craigrossofficial and @lennykravitz —exactly where instruments like this belong. Videos and pictures are coming soon !

We are honoured to become part of this extraordinary story.

This is for sure the most amazing piece of music history that we had the chance to host at Matt’s Guitar Shop.

Today marks the return of the legendary Fresh Cream ’Burst.

When @ericclapton’s fabled ‘Beano’ ’Burst was stolen at the height of his mid-60s Bluesbreakers fame, he turned to @andysummers_official for a replacement.

That guitar, a 1960 Les Paul Standard, was the one Eric used for his next project, an all-new power trio named @creambandofficial. Hidden away from public view for nearly 60 years, the guitar – as influential in its way as ‘Beano’ – has now resurfaced in Paris, and we were able to get up close with it and tell its remarkable story.

The Johnny Marr Collection Lands at Matt’s Guitar Shop!

We’re thrilled to have the chance to have those guitars at the shop being Johnny’s Favourite Fender Jaguar, used everywhere extensively in the world for tours, studio sessions, writing sessions, and most notably with Hans Zimmer and Billie Eilish during the legendary James Bond song : No Time To Die! 🚀

Johnny has stated this guitar is his very favourite Jaguar and we understand why, it sounds stellar! 🎸

We just came back from New York City with INCREDIBLE guitars and we have seen so many good shows there, meeting as well some amazing guitar friends of the NYC and East Coast community. 🎸❤️

One of the highlights of the trip was assisting to Buddy Guy’s 90th Birthday at the Radio City Music Hall.

Once there, we realised how lucky we were to have for sale at the shop Buddy Guy’s 1965 Fender Stratocaster in Olympic White finish, coming with his polka dot Strap! 🚀
