Old pic but the message remains the same. 5 years later im a little softer, some grays in my beard, and realizing that getting old is a real thing. But with the somewhat recent tragedy in Afghanistan ripping open old wounds for many global war on terror vets, many vets struggled even harder than normal to act like “I’m fine.” Its lame but I promise you if you show appreciation to a veteran today you will give that hero a buzz of joy and a smile. So many vets are broken mentally, depressed, addicted, or just barely holding on. Give them a reason to stay in the game. Have a good veterans day and thank you for spreading empathy and understanding to men and women you hardly know. I've kind of gone dark lately. Been battling some health stuff. I have a fluid retention cyst the size of a golf ball in my face. Leftover from my brain injury in the marines. The Pain is unreal. In the beginning doctors told me there was nothing wrong. Then I asked for a copy of the scan and got the technician to admit they didn't even look at mine. So if your battling pain and docs tell your crazy, keep digging. If you look to the right of arrow you can see a huge mass that's not supposed to be there. Left of arrow is a healthy sinus. Anyway,Surgery soon hopefully, then I can get back to living life and surfing and being happy. Hope all is well friendos by @mattybcraw

Happy Memorial Day to all the family, friends, and brothers in arms of all who paid in full for our freedoms. Sgt. Jon Bonnell passed tragically in 2007 while deployed to Afghanistan. He's the center of attention in top pic in red shirt, one night when we were in Tokyo that was one for the record books. I am honored to have served and partied with men like Jon. God Bless all that we honor on this day by @mattybcraw
