Each of these spotlighted businesses grew out of a friendship and a shared passion for creating handmade items. I’ve had so much fun watching these partnerships and businesses blossom from our initial meeting when I asked the girls “What inspires you to create?” Moving through lots more questions and decisions like “How much of a product should you make?” to “What colors and fonts do you want to use in your logo?” these girls did it all together, and their business ideas grew into a reality. I hope seeing the images of the fun things your peers are doing and learning inspires you to see the potential for creation and growth in you, and maybe with a friend. wellgirl is currently registering for a new session of Crafting Your Girl Maker Business (link in bio for all details) to be held at @maximagiftcenter in Arlington starting October 18! We’ll be preparing you to launch your new business and sell your handmade items with super confidence at a Girl-Made Holiday Market at Maxima Arlington in November. Starting a business with a friend is about more than making money (although that is one of the most popular reported goals when I ask the girls in the beginning)—it’s about pursuing your passion, learning new skills, and creating fun memories that don’t fade with age. Join us for a three-session children's arts course focused on education and creativity. Each day we'll explore new elements of what goes into one of Eric Carle's collage illustrations with kid-friendly deep dives into the artist's biography, a color theory crash course, and the art history of collage as a medium. Throughout the three classes, the kids will sketch their illustrations, prepare special collage papers, and create a final collage with the materials they made. All supplies (including smocks) will be provided, but please send your little ones in comfortable art-friendly clothes and with a water bottle. Our September speed puzzling event was buzzin' at the Maxima Hive on Thursday night! 🧩 Congratulations to the "Mantis Shrimp Welfare Project" team who completed the 500 piece @eurographics_puzzles "Market Day" puzzle in 23 minutes and 28 seconds! In 2nd place was the "Nobel Piece Prize" team at 42 minutes and 11 seconds! In third place was the "Fit Happens" team at 43 minutes and 49 seconds. Hooray to all the participating teams! Teams can be up to 3 members ages 10+ (a parent must be present for kids under 13 years old). $30 registration fee and each team gets to take the puzzle home. Prizes for the first three teams to complete the puzzle within 2 hours. There's a puzzle swap table, too! These events will take place on the last Thursday of each month at the new @maximagiftcenter Hive space from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This one is especially personal to me. As a survivor, bringing awareness to this issue and supporting survivors means a great deal to me. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of an evening that uses music, storytelling, and community to shine a light on stories that too often go unheard. I’m also so appreciative of the representing ATASK, collaborating with Model Peril, and Maxima Gift Center & Hive.
