There's an amazing woman who makes pies to match the cover of books (The Bookish Pie Lady --> go check out her page @pieladybooks !!) and when I found out that our bookstore would be hosting @annie_hartnett for an author event, I was inspired to make a fabric ornament based on some key elements from "The Road to Tender Hearts"! I took Annie's creation of Pancakes the cat and had some fabric printed by @spoonflower along with a Massachusetts license plate with the BIRD BRN letters (iykyk!) for the wrap. I found a shiny pineapple charm at @michaelsstores and voila! A special gift for the author of such a great book! I think it came out pretty okay, what do you think?! I presented it to her when I arrived at the event and she was so kind to put it on display near her during the talk. ❤️ It was such a joy meeting her and hearing her tell us about her personal life experiences that helped her build the characters and plots in her books. She is absolutely hilarious and my coworker told her she could totally do stand-up comedy! It was great to see so many recognizable faces in the sold out crowd of our wonderful bookstore customers, and to see everyone smiling and laughing throughout the event. What a fun night! Thank you, Annie!! If you haven't read the book yet, what are ya waiting for?! I've read 34 books so far in 2026 and this is definitely one that I gave 5 stars! After hearing her talk about so many elements in the book, I want to read it again (and listen to it, too!). Check out Annie's IG account for upcoming events in case there's a location near you (that hasn't sold out yet!) so you can meet and listen to this awesome human being. ❤️ #TheRoadToTenderHearts #AnnieHartnett #MassachusettsAuthor #MaximaBookCenter #QuiltedFabricOrnaments

We had a wonderful evening of music, story telling, food, and community at Model Peril: A Musical Experience on AAPI Tragedies last weekend. Together, attendees raised more than $1,000 through ticket sales and donations to support ATASK’s work with Asian survivors of domestic violence and their families. As we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re reminded that showing up can take many forms. It can mean creating space for stories that deserve to be heard, building connection through art and culture, or coming together to support survivors as they rebuild their lives. Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared the event, made a donation, and helped turn a night of music and community into support for ATASK. This is what community showing up looks like. #ATASK #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth #LanguageAccess #AAPICommunity #CommunitySupport

Each of these spotlighted businesses grew out of a friendship and a shared passion for creating handmade items. I’ve had so much fun watching these partnerships and businesses blossom from our initial meeting when I asked the girls “What inspires you to create?” Moving through lots more questions and decisions like “How much of a product should you make?” to “What colors and fonts do you want to use in your logo?” these girls did it all together, and their business ideas grew into a reality. I hope seeing the images of the fun things your peers are doing and learning inspires you to see the potential for creation and growth in you, and maybe with a friend. wellgirl is currently registering for a new session of Crafting Your Girl Maker Business (link in bio for all details) to be held at @maximagiftcenter in Arlington starting October 18! We’ll be preparing you to launch your new business and sell your handmade items with super confidence at a Girl-Made Holiday Market at Maxima Arlington in November. Starting a business with a friend is about more than making money (although that is one of the most popular reported goals when I ask the girls in the beginning)—it’s about pursuing your passion, learning new skills, and creating fun memories that don’t fade with age. So, if you’re ready, grab a friend, dream big and start your entrepreneurial journey together. The world needs your ideas and enthusiasm! #craftygirl #kidbusiness #businesspartner #kidpreneur #youthempowerment

Hello my creative friends! Spots are filling up, and I don’t want you to miss your chance to join us at one of these upcoming Girl Made Markets and sell your handmade items as your very own business! The good news is there’s still some pace available for your girl to take wellgirl’s signature entrepreneurial class Crafting Your Girl Maker Business in Arlington (three Sundays starting October 18) or in Waltham (four Wednesdays starting October 14). From product discovery & development, to logo creation, financial literacy, taking product photos & preparing to sell in person with confidence, this class teaches crafty girls the essential and real world skills to start a business they can be super proud of! Each class registration guarantees a table at one of these upcoming Holiday Girl Made Markets: Saturday Nov 21st at Tempo in Waltham (3rd annual!) Saturday Nov 28 at Maxima HIVE in Arlington Want to join us? https://linktr.ee/wellgirl_inyou … take a peek at class descriptions and the links to register. Holiday time is the easiest & most financially rewarding time to try out selling your handmade items! So much so, that at the past two Girl Made holiday markets I’ve hosted at Tempo, more than half of the girl businesses completely SOLD OUT of their inventory and every girl sold out of at least one of their category of items they brought! And while it gives the community a chance to support small business and buy unique handmade gifts, it also rewards the girls an opportunity to give back too: many girls decide to give some of their profits to a charity or organization they feel really passionate about, and last year, our raffle of girl made items raised enough money to fulfill TWO local girls’ holiday wish lists! @maximagiftcenter @tempokitchencocktails
