P6 at the World Championships once again

Ik zou graag WK medailles willen collecteren in plaats van 6e plaatsen (4e keer). In een sport als zeilen, waar niet alles te controleren valt, zijn er altijd weer die “lessen” waar je van kunt leren. Mijn eerste reactie is f*ck die lessen, ik wil gewoon winnen en ik baal ervan dat ik naast het podium sta. Maar er gaan ook veel dingen heel goed, resultaten die jullie zien, maar ook punten in het proces wat niet direct leidt tot zichtbare resultaten.
Afgelopen week heb ik alles gegeven, fysiek en mentaal. De lach die jullie zien is er vaak, soms afgewisseld met een hele kritische blik 🙃 en gister waren er ook tranen.
Ik geloof in dit proces, ik geniet van de strijd en ook al ben ik nu heel teleurgesteld en verdrietig ik ga toch maar weer goed naar die lessen kijken.

Nog 2 jaar te gaan 🫡

There were a lot of challenges this season, and that’s also what I like about this “job”: it always comes with a challenge.
In sport, nothing is given to you. You have to earn your rewards. But the moment you start believing you deserve a reward simply because you work hard, you lose sight of the process.
It can be a dark place sometimes, especially when your whole life revolves around chasing a dream.
But when I take a moment to realize that I get to call this my job, that every day I have the opportunity to work on myself, develop, and become better, I feel very grateful.

And in between some of those darker days, there are still plenty of days with that big smile (as you can see 😄).

We’re still grinding. On my way to LA 2028 ✨

Next stop and the last one of the season: the World Championships in Dublin, 7–12 September 🇮🇪

In between athlete life and sailing events, I got to witness Mirthe & Jack get married last month. The most magical weekend filled with so much love, smiles and happy tears (mostly mine). So special to be there and very grateful to have you both in my life 🤍🤍🤍

P4 at the @sailinggrandslam last week in Hyeres. Sometimes good sometimes bad 🤷‍♀️
Trying to soak up everything, because we might as well enjoy the life we chose, even on the days it keeps us humble!

A bit of training, some time with friends and family before hitting the road again: Europeans coming up in 2 weeks.

Dit is hoe topsport eruitziet.
We hadden @maximejonker bij ons een absolute topper, zilveren wereldmedaillewinnaar en op weg naar de Olympische Spelen.

Ze traint veel op de fiets om haar prestaties op het water te verbeteren, en we waren super blij dat ze met ons mee reed naar Daia.

Ze heeft ook haar mening over de kit met jullie gedeeld 👀

We had Maxime with us ,an absolute legend, silver world medalist, and future Olympic contender.
