Surrender the hype and the pride and do whatever it takes to allow God to make us the best version of ourselves. I am grateful for church. Especially @elan.church by @maxmlyons

One month apart. Twenty minutes apart. Same city, different assignments, same King.

That’s the story behind this picture.

Prophetess @tai.mcneely and I planted @wearepurposecity. @maxmlyons and @julietlyons planted @elan.church. We started around the same time, in the same region, and the world would expect that setup to breed comparison, competition, or at best a polite distance.

Instead, we found family.

We check on each other. We pray for each other. We celebrate every win the other church has. Why? Because we understood something a lot of church culture forgets. We are not opponents. The enemy is not the church down the street. It never was.

Our fight was never against flesh and blood. It’s against the powers of darkness in this world. If that’s true, then two churches twenty minutes apart aren’t competitors. They’re teammates on the same mission.

It’s easy to cheer for a pastor three states away who will never affect your attendance, your offering, or your influence. It’s another thing to link arms with the pastor down the street, the one your members drive past on their way to your building. That takes a kingdom mindset, not a church mindset.

Church people build their own kingdoms. Kingdom people build the Kingdom of God together.

So here’s my challenge to every pastor and every believer reading this. Find the church down the street and be a friend instead of a stranger. Send the encouraging text. Make the call. Show up for them. We win more when we walk together.

After three weeks of vacation, it was so special to be back at Elan Church yesterday! Such powerful 9 AM & 11 AM services. Massive thank you (and well done) to our team who shared on Philippians 4 (you CRUSHED IT!)

Quick appreciation post for Pastor Juliet @julietlyons … this force for Christ leads from the front - even with her youngest of four kids strapped to her front, she’s preaching God’s word, praising Him with her incredible voice, and helping build Elan Church.

Thanks for showing us what stepping into God’s calling on your life looks like - babies and all 🤪. We are so grateful to have @elan.church as our summer church home… even when we’re escaping the Florida heat, they’re always bringing the heat!
