Are you so focused on what’s missing you’re missing what God is doing?

“I thought I’d be further ahead by now.” A stronger marriage. More financial stability. A different season of life.

It’s easy to become so focused on where we thought we’d be that we overlook what God is doing right where we are.

Just because God hasn’t done everything doesn’t mean He hasn’t done anything.

Don’t let what you’re still waiting for cause you to neglect what God has already given to you... Be faithful with what God has given you today while you trust Him for tomorrow.

None of us have it all together… none of us need to pretend we do. But every last one of us has a responsibility to stop living like a victim. Surrender the hype and the pride and do whatever it takes to allow God to make us the best version of ourselves. I am grateful for church. Especially @elan.church

It’s my NUMBER ONE human’s birthday!! My coffee loving baby daddy. I love watching your obsession with our kids. I love how much you love Jesus and His church. I love how much of a true friend you are and mostly I love how much you love me. ♡

Huge shout out and thank you to @maxmlyons and @julietlyons for the invite to join the @elan.church team at the Global Leadership Summit this summer outside of Chicago. It was great to hear from some of the best leaders and speakers in the world. And super fun to run into some friends that I haven’t seen in about 15 years. See you on stage next year @ericadhawan_ ?!?! #gls26

One month apart. Twenty minutes apart. Same city, different assignments, same King.

That’s the story behind this picture.

Prophetess @tai.mcneely and I planted @wearepurposecity. @maxmlyons and @julietlyons planted @elan.church. We started around the same time, in the same region, and the world would expect that setup to breed comparison, competition, or at best a polite distance.

Instead, we found family.

We check on each other. We pray for each other. We celebrate every win the other church has. Why? Because we understood something a lot of church culture forgets. We are not opponents. The enemy is not the church down the street. It never was.

Our fight was never against flesh and blood. It’s against the powers of darkness in this world. If that’s true, then two churches twenty minutes apart aren’t competitors. They’re teammates on the same mission.

It’s easy to cheer for a pastor three states away who will never affect your attendance, your offering, or your influence. It’s another thing to link arms with the pastor down the street, the one your members drive past on their way to your building. That takes a kingdom mindset, not a church mindset.

Church people build their own kingdoms. Kingdom people build the Kingdom of God together.

So here’s my challenge to every pastor and every believer reading this. Find the church down the street and be a friend instead of a stranger. Send the encouraging text. Make the call. Show up for them. We win more when we walk together.

Grateful for Max and Juliet Lyons and the friendship we’ve built between Purpose City and Elan. This is what it should look like.

Quick appreciation post for Pastor Juliet @julietlyons … this force for Christ leads from the front - even with her youngest of four kids strapped to her front, she’s preaching God’s word, praising Him with her incredible voice, and helping build Elan Church.

Thanks for showing us what stepping into God’s calling on your life looks like - babies and all 🤪. We are so grateful to have @elan.church as our summer church home… even when we’re escaping the Florida heat, they’re always bringing the heat! Pastor Max @maxmlyons - thank you for encouraging your wife’s light to shine!
