🚨Are you talking to other schools? If not… coaches can take their time with you. Why aren’t you? Do you have enough schools you’re reaching out to? Are you treating your recruiting process like it’s urgent? If not, you will simply be skipped over. by @maxrecruits

Your school list needs to be more than 5 dream schools… it needs to have at least 3 tiers: tier A… where you can play right now. Tier B… attainable/reach. Tier C… real stretch schools. by @maxrecruits

34 is the whole roster at an opted-in D1 program. Every one of those spots is competitive now.

The useful thing you can do this week doesn’t involve a coach at all. Pull up the roster at the school your kid keeps talking about. Count the seniors. Count the players at their position. Now you’re both working off a real number instead of a feeling.

Is your athlete a junior, or even senior and you’re wondering if it’s too late? It is not. I’ve seen kids commit to D1 schools a week before their HS graduation. Some even in the summer after HS. The work of marketing your athlete needs to be done regardless! It is not an easy task to get offers. To actually get a coaches attention, your email needs to be highly personalized and strategic! It is too easy to tell whether it is a spam/copy paste email, or if it is real. by @maxrecruits

Keep the DMs simple. A good first few words is what catches a coaches attention. They do not want to sit there reading your whole life story as your first impression. A coach has way less time than you think to be reading DMs from prospects. Send a short DM to catch their attention, then once there is some interest, more details can be shared through email/phone calls. by @maxrecruits

If you are struggling financially, do not underestimate lower division programs! Just because you don’t see the word “athletic scholarship” does not mean there is no money involved. #recruitingprocess #collegerecruiting #hsbaseball #orangecountyca #explore by @maxrecruits

When you’re in contact with a coach, letting them know you did research on their roster puts you ahead of almost every other recruit they are talking to. They want to see that you WANT to play there, and the first real sign of that is through conducting your own research. Putting in real effort. by @maxrecruits

Stop waiting to email coaches until the D1 communication date! Email coaches earlier than you think. by @maxrecruits

To give your athlete a real shot at playing at the next level, they need way more schools than you think on their list. The odds of getting an offer from reaching out to 1-5 schools are almost zero percent. Be realistic and put real effort into your athletes future. by @maxrecruits

Most of the time the walk-on plan is just a way to put off emailing anybody.

I played D1 out of a high school with 40 kids in my grade. No coach went after me, so I actually had to put in the work… I sent the emails, I introduced myself at camps, and I followed up after.

If your kid is banking on getting added late somewhere, the useful question to ask as a family is does your athlete really want it? It takes a lot more effort than just simply being a good player. Recruiting itself is a whole separate ballgame.
