“Warning from a black destiny to the mankind”
by @raffitokatlian

68 x 53 x 60 cm | Bronze EA1

”We lost our sight. Then chose artifical guidance.
Wars.
Destruction.
Pollution.
Little by little, we lost everything.
Our bodies deform.
Our sight disappears.
And at the end, we return to loyalty to guide us.
Lead by an artificial leash toward an unknown destination.
Maybe this is not the future anymore.
Maybe it has already begun.” taken in Downtown Beirut by @maya.artspace

“We destroy what was never ours” by renowned by Raffi Tokatlian

205 x 145 cm | Oil on canvas

There is a beautiful deserted garden about one hour walking distance from my mountain house.
For thirteen years, I visited it twice a year.
It was built by human hands.
A small amphitheater.
Huge trees.
A river passing through it.
Over the years,
I created my own mythology around the place.
Maybe an old wealthy man built all of this for his lover..
but died before ever telling her.
Today.
I decided to visit it again,
But on my way there,
I was shocked.
The beautiful fields, the apple trees, the greenery filled with insects and butterflies.
All gone.
Instead, more than thirty giant machines were tearing the earth apart.
Rocks hitting iron.
Ugly sounds.
Chaos.
The lands left behind by villagers from their ancestors were disappearing forever.
I could not even reach the garden.
Now I am sitting in my own garden writing this.
And suddenly I realized something uncomfortable.
Thirteen years ago,
I did the same.
Maybe we were not sent here to protect this planet.
Maybe we were sent to destroy it.
A planet that was never truly ours.

We destroy what was never ours. taken in Downtown Beirut by @maya.artspace

“He betrayed her.
She knew
She forgave him.
But for her, it was never a game.
For him, it became too late.
He tried everything.
Submission.
Obedience.
Even offering her his own heart.
But some things, once dead inside us, never return.
They remain beside us like spirits. “ taken in Downtown Beirut by @maya.artspace

🎥Artist Spotlight🎥

Presented by Maya Art Space, @sayed.waked.7 (b. 1976, Egypt) is a contemporary Egyptian glass sculptor. Waked graduated from the Faculty of Specific Art Education at Cairo University in 1998, and is currently an active member of the Egyptian Fine Arts Syndicate. Raised in rural Egypt, his early connection to nature continues to shape his artistic vision.

Working exclusively with glass since 2007, Waked explores the material’s symbolic and emotional potential. His sculptures move between abstraction and figuration, using transparency, light, and color to evoke themes of human connection, transformation, and inner balance. Glass becomes a metaphor for both vulnerability and resilience in the human experience.

“Learn how to breathe” by renowned artist Raffi Tokatlian

187 x 137 cm | Oil on canvas

Polluted minds.
Polluted bodies.
We cannot breathe.
We cannot think.
What are these tears coming out of our bodies?
Nobody wants them.
Nobody cares.
Take them back.
As long as life exists around us, begging will not help.
We deserve to live, only if we learn how to breathe.
Do not try to find a meaning.
Keep that for human beings.
Instead, learn from other beings.
Learn to respect the same creator of the insect and the human being.

Because perhaps the moment we decided that one creation was more important than another,
was the moment we forgot how to breathe. taken in Downtown Beirut by @maya.artspace

Texte d’Edgard Davidian

“The place without sky” by renowned artist Raffi Tokatlian

Oil on canvas | 190 x 140 cm

“After moving to my mountain house twelve years ago,
I made the first sketch of this painting.
I was happy. At last, I had found solitude.
Yet something inside me never stopped reminding me how beautiful this land had been before I destroyed part of it.
And before so many others did the same. Some, like me.
Others, for business.
In this painting there is no land. There is no sky. It is an unknown place. Perhaps it
exists only inside our own creations.
The figures seem alive. Yet they are already disappearing.
We believe we are the exception. That we will remain.
The truth is, we disappeared before they did.
We became a spirit, which is also one of our creations.
They do not choose what they will become. But we do.
After we are gone, what remains?
Our writings... or our fears?”

The exhibition will remain on view till October 24th.
