Maya Hayuk @mayahayuk was born in the United States to Ukrainian parents who fled war-torn Ukraine in 1944. Eight decades later, their daughter returned to her ancestral homeland by choice.

Over the years, Hayuk has become one of the most prominent American artists of Ukrainian descent. Her work has been featured in museum collections and exhibitions across the US, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Brazil, and Chile. After Russia’s full-scale invasion, her connection with Ukraine grew even deeper.

Yellow Blue journalist Roksana Rublevska shares Maya Hayuk’s story, from growing up in the post-war Ukrainian diaspora to achieving international recognition and rediscovering Ukraine after 2022.

Maya Hayuk brings her signature visual language to "BEYOND THE STREETS" at La Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, on view through August 23, 2026.⁠

The Tryzub emerges throughout the composition, the Ukrainian coat of arms folded again and again into Hayuk's bold color blocks. Brooklyn-based, the artist's work has been the subject of solo exhibitions and commissions at institutions including the Hammer Museum, LA, the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto, and the Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht. At La Villette, her piece joins over 100 legends of graffiti and street art in the world's most influential exhibition dedicated to the movement.⁠

Разом будемо досліджувати силу українського символу – Тризуба –та створювати його власну, унікальну інтерпретацію на папері.

Кожен навчиться малювати тризуба самостійно.

На події ви дізнаєтеся:
• більше про історію та значення Тризуба
• як через мистецтво можна переосмислювати знайомі символи
• як створити власну версію Тризуба
• зможете поспілкуватися з Маєю Гаюк та разом попрацювати над своїм малюнком

Ваш Тризуб стане частиною архіву проєкту «Тризуб Терапія», який уже налічує понад 300 унікальних інтерпретацій цього символу.
