Not your average Halloween! Farmers markets, stringing marigolds, singing with friends, and a lovely afternoon wedding catching up with old friends. And I didn’t have to lift a finger, just my dancing boots. What a treat!!! In bed early with my Black Cat on her big day. How could anyone look at Juniper and think she’s scary or bad luck?! She’s the cutest! 🐈‍⬛ Grateful for a “sort of” day off today. And all the gifts along the way. Forever learning to give my self the gift of time, off! ❤️ by @mayamorrill

I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with gratitude for all the birthday love this year. Celebrating 44 started where most days start for me, at my yoga studio @holycowyogacenter Class with @tashitheyogini followed by breakfast with her and @hidestheashtangi at my favorite @3littlebirdschs was the best! Then back for more yoga with Steven @thereoncewasayogi and was greeted with so much love it made me cry! My sweet Paige made me a massive lemon curd and berry cake, my girl Katherine made me Passion fruit curd and crumpets, flowers, cards, pop tarts, and I got to make our class playlist! What a special morning! My roomie @leiladavenportross , and @haus_of_heckler and @lizardsinda_houz came by for a lovely happy hour creating air dry clay vaginas and laughed our asses off. Saturday I got to celebrate at @coastbrewing with a massive platter of meat during their Coastoberfest celebrations! Followed by a joyful assembling of my girl @juniperbremer ‘s incredible flower creation. Every year for @holycitydivaslive we build an arch way for the queens to walk through and this year, Jen made the most epic paper flowers that we attached to a big arch we borrowed from our girl Toni! @toni.reale @roadsideblooms it was truly AMAZING! Sunday we got to raise funds for @feralstatechs and @namichsarea by throwing a huge drag brunch party, and it’s always my favorite day of the year. With the help of our queen hostess @allaboutpatti and porter room party queen @swil_yo @theporterroom and @ldgotagram @kingbeanroaster @wildflourpastry and many others, and our kitchen crew @joeltnorman @instabinsted @lkuhlj and Dashiell, @mickicollett @carlyalexandra @dusk_micah and my sisters from @luladrake @ashbun12 @raeofthesun we had the best and smoothest brunch yet. I couldn’t do it with out all the logistical help from @pcclark2 and @jcbremerdesigns and our handsome DJ’s @djtrevord and @marshpmorris and of course all of our MAGICAL Queens! @the.diamond.giovanni @thenicolepaigebrooks @salliejustsallie @carmellammonroe @thejukeboxjudy and Patti!!!! Thanks to @palmettostateabortionfund and @wearefamilycharleston for joining as well! This years @holycitydivaslive was unforgettable! by @mayamorrill
Very grateful for a Rejuvenating weekend trip up to MA to spend some quality time with my family in the woods. 🏕️ I got some extra snuggly time with my niece Sofia who is about to be 5 in a few weeks. We walked through the woods and collected mushrooms, flowers, rocks and acorns. I hope she never looses her sense of wonder. Nature has such a deep well of gifts if your heart and mind are open to receive. Our camping family weekends always go by so fast but I’m very grateful that I was able to make this trip happen, and extra grateful that I got some quality time with my Aunties in Virginia and Connecticut as well. I’ve been reading about love lately, particularly our ability to love, give love and receive love, and this really resonated…. “The decision to be the presence of love is the most powerful influence you can have in any situation in your life and in this world“ And then after yoga class this morning Heidi gave me this little love note, “Celebrate that which you share with others. For their joy, happiness, and love shall bring you wealth beyond measure” 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 by @mayamorrill

I’ve been struggling to find words for all the feels I have about what’s happening at my studio. @holycowyogacenter The rent has risen so much they are being forced out of their big studio room and are now downsizing in to their smaller studio room. You can’t put a number on how impactful Holy cow has been for thousands of students over the 27 years they’ve been in business. Shame on the property managers of Windermere for allowing this to happen, and the restaurant next door with the worst name ever, for thinking their restaurant expanding is what our community wants or needs. For the same price you’ll pay for a steak dinner, you can get an unlimited month of yoga at my studio. If I want a steak I’ll go to the farmers market and buy one from Celeste, David or Alex. The farmers and friends I know by name who are raising happy animals with respect. As a chef, I know that no meal I create in my lifetime will ever touch the impact that this studio has had on so many. Hundreds of students have turned teachers through their teacher training workshops that happen here. In this room, on the mat my teacher Steven gave me, I’ve sweat and cried my way through unimaginable heartbreak, three painful surgeries, my divorce, and so much grief. The safety my teachers here have helped me cultivate in my body is more valuable than anything I know. In a world with a broken medical system, this studio creates a healing space that is not only affordable but everyone is welcome. What are we doing Charleston? I understand that rent is rising everywhere and the market value changes. If we keep forcing our communities most cherished businesses out of their spaces, what will we have left? Aren’t we the HOLY city? Holy cow yoga studio will prevail. We breathe, we persevere, we practice gratitude, compassion and grace, and we continue to move. In a time where we need yoga more than ever, we have to protect these spaces, Or what makes Charleston so special will soon be lost in greed from money hungry property owners who have NO idea what they are taking from us. Our teachers and student community deserves better! Support your local businesses. We need you more than ever. 🤍 by @mayamorrill
“I think everybody should be treated with respect. I don’t judge people, and I try not to get too caught up in the controversy of things. I hope that everybody gets a chance to be who and what they are. I just know if I have to pee, I’m going to pee. I don’t care where it’s going to be.” - @dollyparton Dolly embodied everything we believe here at Holy City Divas Live, join us on September 27 to honor Dolly and the Ladies of the 90’s!!
