there is a new spot to satisfy your matcha cravings called @reviv.rn.matcha! they are located inside of @reviv.rn which is a new wellness clinic in griesbach with the most gorgeous interior. it's so luxe and is the perfect place to pamper yourself. the menu is simple with 3 different matcha flavours along with a feature drink every month. we got to try one of each including their 2 new fall specials — cinnamon toast crunch & pumpkin brown sugar. now you know if there's a banana matcha on the menu, I'm getting it so I was most excited for the banana cloud. this was good and not too sweet but surprisingly my favourite was the cinnamon toast crunch matcha. tied in second place with the banana cloud for me was the strawberry shortcake matcha — I loved the strawberry crumble on top and perfect for those who have a sweet tooth. & if you're a fan of pumpkin then you will love the pumpkin brown sugar one! they use ceremonial grade matcha and you can tell because look at that shade of green 😍 also loved that their cold foam is matcha flavoured as well. the owners are the sweetest people ever and like do you see these personalized cups? I was obsessed. so glad we have a dedicated matcha spot on the northside now. never would I have thought you can get good matcha from a wellness clinic but they proved me wrong. congrats on the opening and thank you sooo much for having me 🩷 (hosted)

L I F T • M E • U P • 🍝
in case you didn't know, @tiramisu_bistro opened @liftmeuplake in the newly renovated hawrelak park this summer. I've been meaning to go and finally did a couple months ago for a birthday dinner. the menu features italian food including all of the classics. for appetizers we got the carpaccio, arancini, deep fried burrata, kale caesar, truffle fries and whipped feta. the arancini were good but a bit dry; they came with a side of marinara which helped. the deep fried burrata was delicious and we also enjoyed the carpaccio. the whipped feta tasted like labneh but I wasn't mad at it. I ordered a crispy chicken alfredo as my main but also pictured is the kale pesto, wild mushroom chicken and aglio e olio. unfortunatley all of our pastas were very overcooked and the sauces were pretty bland. I'm not sure if it's because they use fresh pasta or not but they were mushy. other than that, the vibes were great. I do want to come back to try their brunch before winter comes because it's such a nice spot. the weather was perfect and we ended the day with a beautiful sunset on the lake.

edmonton, we've got another late night spot called @lokma.yeg! they specialize in turkish lokma which is a deep fried dough ball with your choice of toppings. you can also got other desserts and savoury items here and everything is 100% halal! I tried their bueno croffle, nutella & biscoff lokmas and a chicken & cheese kogo covered in potatoes. I was excited to finally have a halal korean corn dog but the breading was thicccc and there wasn't enough meat in it. next time I'll just get the cheese one. I knew I'd like the bueno croffle cuz I love bueno and croffles lol. the lokmas are delicious and remind me of a denser mr.puffs donut. I was also gifted a pistachio milkshake that I really enjoyed. the staff was so kind and welcoming. their grand opening is today and tomorrow (october 2 & 3) and the first 100 people on each day will receive free lokmas! you can also enter one of their giveaways on their website which will get you 20% your next order! I am happy to have a new halal spot for all my 3AM dessert cravings 🤪 congrats on the opening @lokmapastry!

when instagram guides were a thing, I had one up for date night spots and I thought why not bring them back. one of my most asked questions is "where is the best place for a nice dinner?" so I have compiled a list of restaurants in the edmonton area perfect for a date night, birthday dinner or any occasion. these are some of my favourites in the city so if you're looking for something with great ambience, tasty food and a more upscale feel, then look no further.

I've always said edmonton has the best cafes and now there's a new one to add to your list called @kofiacafe. they are a middle-eastern inspired cafe located in the neighbourhood of schonsee. the northeast was in need of a cafe like this so I think it was a great spot to open. on par with the other middle eastern cafes in town, they serve up a variety of coffees, teas, mojitos and more. we got a plethora of drinks like their strawberry matcha, vanilla matcha, raspberry mojito, passionfruit mojito, mocha frap, pineapple smoothie, pistachio latte and spanish latte. my favourite was between the passionfruit mojito or the strawberry matcha. loved hearing that they use ceremonial grade matcha. for dessert we got an oreo cheesecake, pistachio cheesecake, red velvet cake and a chocolate cake which was my favourite of the 4. the cheesecakes have a jelly texture so those weren't my jam but all of their desserts are baked in-house and will be offering a greater selection in the future. the interior is beautiful and the staff make you feel right at home. their grand opening is today and they will be open late daily. you know how much a I love a late night cafe especially in the northside. thank you so much for having me and congrats on the opening! there is a new turkish & syrian restaurant on the northside called @masayayeg. the interior is beautiful and perfect for hosting an event. their menu is 100% halal and features all the classic dishes you would find at most mediterranean spots. we got everything mezze style which is ideal for sharing amongst a group. to start, they brought out pita with all the dips like hummus, mutabbal (roasted eggplant) and muhamara. I love muhamara which is a roasted red pepper dip and I'm glad they serve it here. other appetizers we got were the yalanji (grape leaves), kibbeh and cheese rolls. the kibbeh was good and the cheese rolls were a crowd favourite so we ended up ordering more. for salads they brought out both fattoush and tabooli. the fattoush was tasty but the tabooli was a little dry and some more flavour. as for the meats, we got some beef kababs, adana kababs and shish tawook. all were flavourful, tender and had a nice charcoal flavour. the grill platter also came with rice and fries. service lacked and it may be because we were a large party, but we all enjoyed the food and would be happy to return.

the wait is over; @hellskitchen is finally open at @rivercreeresort! this is the first location in canada and the menu features exclusive indigenous-inspired plates along with @gordongram's signature ones. some of his famous dishes include the beef wellington, lobster risotto and sticky toffee pudding. we tried all 3 of these along with the tuna tartare, steak tartare, crispy skin salmon, mac & cheese and pan-seared scallops. the scallops had bacon on it which couldn't be altered so @jenneatstoomuch ate them for the both of us and said it was one of the best dishes. I really liked the appies: both tartares were tasty with good textural elements. I liked the risotto too and found it to be flavourful. I have always wanted to try his beef wellington but knew the original recipe contained prosciutto. lucky for me, the enoch location does not use pork in it (I triple checked!). the wellington was cooked perfectly and the meat was tender but I find the puffed pastry to be kinda unnecessary. personally, I would prefer to have a tenderloin without all the bells and whistles since it's a great standalone cut of meat. that being said, I still think it's worth trying at least once. our salmon was underdone so they made us a new one. maybe I just like my salmon super well-done because it was still a little too under for me. the crispy skin on the salmon made the dish imo; I enjoyed it. I have yet to find a good mac & cheese in town but this one might be it. cheesy, rich and not bland (finally!!)— it's exactly what I want in a mac & cheese. now for the star of the show: the sticky toffee pudding. this was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time and I can't stop thinking about it. I would actually drive to enoch for this alone — it was the perfect ending. service was 10/10 and everyone was so helpful and kind. and don't even get me started on the interior; it's beautiful and spacious with a private room and speakeasy. how lucky are we to get the first @hellskitchen in canada? I'm excited to return and for this addition to our food scene.

it's @pressdsandwichshop's 16th birthday! on thursday, september 10th, celebrate with buy-one-get-one free sandwiches at all locations. I have always been a big fan of their sandwiches as they are one of my go-to lunch spots whenever I'm feeling something fresh and healthy. did you know the bake all their bread in-house? I am loving the herb n' cheddar bread they have featured at the moment. my usual is a turk n' ched plus pickles, mustard and sprouts with a side of their broccoli cheddar soup. I don't even like soup but this one is an exception; it's hearty and delicious. be sure celebrate with @pressdsandwichshop and take advantage of this bogo offer happening tomorrow only! (gifted)

on our drive down to calgary, we made it a point to stop by @booyahbagels in red deer. this is prob the cutest bagel shop I've ever seen — I loved all the colours and the retro feel. the menu features a handful of specialty bagel sandwiches or you can build-your-own like I did. I got a zaatar bagel with spinach feta cream cheese, tomatoes & cucumbers. also pictured here is their "mr. nova lova" sandwich with smoked salmon and a dill pickle cheddar bagel with dill pickle cream cheese, turkey & veg. can I just say that I've never seen anywhere with such a variety of bagels and cream cheese options and I was 100% here for it. you can even get sweet bagels & cream cheese if you aren't feeling savoury. the bagels themselves were a little tougher than I was hoping for but the cream cheeses were amazing. you can even purchase them to take home (which I regret not doing) along with merch. loved that they had freshly squeezed orange juice so I had to get a cup. staff was so so sweet and they are definitley worth the stop if you're ever passing through red deer.

when you search "good matcha in calgary", @mik_coffee_ is one of the spots that pops up. we were craving matcha later in the day and they were conviniently open. they are a korean cafe that doubles as an art studio where you can paint or make your own phone case. the menu is pretty extensive with many coffee and tea options. I was kinda overwhelmed so I stuck to my usual coconut cloud matcha. unfortunately, I didn't love this. the foam was very thick and left a film in my mouth. it also tasted like marshmallows which I normally wouldn't be mad at but I didn't get much matcha flavour. my sister got the vietnamese coffee with matcha she said the same plus the coffee was burnt. I may have just come on an off-day as they are well-loved online. what is your favourite matcha in yyc?

@monkibistro has multiple locations across calgary and has become one of their most popular brunch spots. the menu has got something for everyone with some unique dishes as well as the classics. pictured here is the: full monki, monki avocado toast, breakfast poutine, waffocado toast, monki double grilled cheese, mushroom puff and a salted caramel latte. I was debating between the shakshuka, mushroom puff or beef brisket hash and landed on the mushroom puff because I wanted something light. this dish wasn't what I was expecting it to be so I wish I tried something else but overall it was fine. I tried some of the grilled cheese and this was delicious especially paired with tomato soup. I appreciate anytime there are tater tots on the menu so loved to see that. the plates were colourful and presented well and service was great. I know they are popular for a reason so I gotta come back and order a different dish.
