Happy 40th Birthday to our beloved sister Harmonia Rosales @honeiee • Ode to this world you have created for us as Black folx to see ourselves CENTERED in a history that was always written to exclude our divine truths • thank you for listening to those sacred ancestors of ours and breathing life and form into them so that we and our babies may know how ours has ALWAYS been a LEGACY that we have carried as children of the diaspora• thank you for SHOWING UP for yourself, for that goddess within, so that we could visualize this sacred RECLAIMING • thank you for showing UP for US, for THEM, for this future that will always know just how DIVINE and SACRED we have always been •

Thank you @spelmanmuseum and the incomparable Dr. Liz Andrews @mizlizthebizwiz for this gift of bringing this expansive collection together and allowing us all to experience it with such profound intentionality and reverence•

Thank you also to my beloved sis @zandravranes for driving down to revel in this once in a lifetime opportunity and for the time we had centering our joy💕🫶🏾🥹 taken in Spelman College Museum of Fine Art by @maybemccoy

“Gaza is a moral litmus test for the world”

[…]

“Palestinian activists have long supported Black people’s struggle against racism. And I hope that today’s young activists recognize how important Palestinian solidarity has been to the Black cause, and that they recognize that we have a profound responsibility to support Palestinian struggles, as well.”

-Angela Davis

📍Palestine Museum

Thank you @palestinemuseum.us for inviting us with open arms into your sacred museum • we drove 2 hours to get there and we left filled to the brim with deep knowledge and love for our Palestinian siblings and comrades in the fight for liberation• it has always been vital that we as humans raising this next generation be intentional about teaching them how & why our liberation is, has always been and will always continue to be intertwined. Free 🇵🇸Pal es tine ! CEASEFIRE NOW 🍉• END occupation• period•

Audience member: Who were you talking to when you wrote “we were never meant to survive?”

Audre Lorde: I was talking about you.

-poetry reading, June25, 1989

Beloved sister @alexispauline • Thank you • For this gift to the world, at this time , in the midst of what is here and what is about to come• Devouring this gem en route to a Board retreat from NYC to Durham, NC and my heart is overflowing• 8/20/2024 I walked to my mailbox and just about fell out• She’s heeeere, amor!!! You did it!!! Happy Pub Day, sis!!!

“Lorde’s understanding of survival was not simply about getting through to the other side of oppression or being resilient in the face of cancer. It was about the total stakes of what it means to be in relationship with a planet in transformation. The focus of Lorde’s quotable essays, to the neglect of her complex poems, has obscured her deep engagement with the natural world and the planetary dynamics of ecology, meteorology, and biology. Lorde’s ecological imagery is not merely metaphorical but rather a literal guide to being of Earth on Earth, to survival—-to living the ethics that a Black feminist lesbian warrior poetics demands. “ by @maybemccoy
