Post Burn Clean : Part 1

This takes days to clean properly after the alkaline dust of Burningman! But if you do it right, @shiftpod is seriously the best festival shelter I’ve ever had! I mean I have a closet and a full size bedframe and mattress and ample room for activities!

So to start, it’s all about a dry blow and brush! 😂. I said what I said. I use a leaf blower to blow everything out. I unzip the floor for prep, post blow, and wash! I then go around and dry brush any of the caked on dirt around the outside footprint and re-blow.

Next is the wash process. I’ll get into details shortly by @mayohmy

Just a little edit from the burn!

SERIOUSLY… cannot believe how insanely magical the opportunities in my life really are. I get paid to go to Burningman! Jeeze… little mayonnaise wouldn’t believe me if I told her how cool we grew up to be!

Grateful for this place. The art. The people. The community. The effort. The collective. Cheers to another year in the dust! ✨🤌🏽

Last week I got a wild hair up my 🍑

A friend BASE jumping in 🏔️ of some country in Europe made me impatient. “I want to be there… damnit. Doing that!”

So I booked a (4) pack with @iflyus

In between sessions, Casey asked if I wanted to buy more sessions and told me the price. I researched the cost of my FJC aka First Jump Course! Just a skosh more than another 4 pack… easy decision.

Today I did my FJC, started my AFF/Class A License Program, and took my first jump known as a Cat A… 24 more jumps to go! 🫣😬🫠🤌🏽✨🪂

Shout out to a seriously rad business, staff, program, etc! Felt well prepared, everyone was so insanely kind, and the equipment was nice! Stoked to book my next jump soon!

Burningman Photo Dump # 2 ✨🤌🏽

The biggies are easy to photograph.

The art. The burns. The sunsets. The dust storms rolling across open playa. The ridiculous machines breathing fire into the night.

But somehow, it’s always the little shit I remember.

The accidental adventures. The people you lose for six hours and somehow find again exactly when you’re supposed to. The conversations sitting in the dust at 4am. The stranger who becomes a friend. The friend who becomes family. The absolutely terrible ideas that turn into some of the best stories of your life.

There’s something beautiful about existing somewhere where nobody is in a hurry to get back to “real life.”

We wander. We build. We climb. We dance until sunrise. We take care of each other. We get absolutely filthy. We laugh until our stomachs hurt. We watch things burn. And for one brief, bizarre little moment in time, we remember how much fun it is just to be present. Living.

Eleven years of coming home, and somehow Black Rock City still finds new corners of me.

Dump # 1 was about the magic.

Dump # 2 is about the beautiful humans I get to share it with.

Dusty. Exhausted. Full fucking heart.

Burningman Photo Dump #1

This year I had three main goals.
1. Build an A Team
2. Take more photos
3. Navigate Burningman with a partner for the first time

All three goals happened flawlessly. With ease. Without much thought. Just as they appeared, situations were addressed and handled, and meaningful conversations were had. The light and clouds played along beautiful as it highlighted the art. The interactions with everyone I met were just absolutely fabulous.

I call this place home and have since 2013. Every single year I come home I learn something about myself. I process my pain and struggles. I reignite my love for the world and humans. I find myself chasing sunset to sunrise embracing something very few put the effort in for. And the reward, nothing short of magnificent. I’m grateful for this place. These people. The moments!

From 24’-26’ I made a career change. From Wildland Firefighter 🌲🔥 and FWQ Snowboarder 🏂 … to a Structure Firefighter 👩🏽‍🚒.

With that change came big sacrifices including putting off the things that make me whole. The things I love doing. The things that are a little bit selfish and ooooohhh so fulfilling.

Fire is fulfilling! That’s why I’ve been in it since 2009. But fire is not my entire identity. And it feels really good this year to finally get a snowboard back underneath me!

I started sliding rails again And hit the big jumps at @northstar_california again!

I finally got that spark back! I already bought my pass for next year and I’m looking forward to riding this storm! It feels good to be here! Serious serious shot out to all my sponsors that stayed with me through this change! I can’t wait to see what happens next year! @neversummerindustries @flylowgear @nowbindings

🇨🇷 @envisionfestival … Were To Begin

If I tried to write all the things in my notes about the people, experiences, classes, music, sunsets, and sunrises, and beautiful moments of connection and bliss… we would be here far too long.

So let me keep it short and simple. Last year at this time I was at @rootsfestival_ in Australia. An (Womb Women’s) festival built around connection, community, and dive into self discovery. Classes that allowed you to connect with you. With the deepest depths. In share space that felt safe and conducive to your growth.

This year at Envision I experienced that opportunity for introspect again! From the connections on the shuttle to the event that are now lifetime friendships, to the classes that lead to lifetime friendships, to the moments with loved ones and sunsets and sunrises and music that will live rent free within my mind…

All whilst frolicking in the jungle of Costa Rica, beach side! What an absolute treat that experience was. What an absolute blessing for two of my best friends to invite me on this adventure with them! @no7glass @susanleonejordano! I’m so grateful for how absolutely mental and cool life has been! Of course it’s been hard. It’s hard for all of us… but I’m working extra hard to make sure the free moments are some of my most beautiful and memorable!!!
