Today, I had the opportunity to tour St. Patrick School and spend some time engaging with the students. It was wonderful to hear their thoughts, answer some interesting questions, and see their enthusiasm for learning.

Thank you to Principal Mary Kelly and Courtney Lucas for showing me around the school and for highlighting the great work being done by the students, teachers, and staff each day. by @mayorgitschier

On behalf of the City Council and our community, I want to thank the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) for the Advancing Massachusetts Power (AMP) grant opportunity, which will allow us to expand and modernize our renewable energy system by incorporating energy storage. During my time as Executive Director of the Lowell Water Department, we installed the largest solar system in the City’s municipal portfolio. That system has since produced more than 6 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy.

This project represents our continued commitment to achieving those goals while investing in critical infrastructure and building a more sustainable and resilient Lowell. by @mayorgitschier

Yesterday, we had the honor of recognizing Retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major Dors G. “Gene” Musgray for his extraordinary lifetime of service to our nation and community.
A highly decorated Vietnam War veteran, Sergeant Major Musgray served with the 9th Infantry Division and was awarded two Silver Stars and two Purple Hearts for his courageous military service. Following his Army career, he continued serving others as an Assistant Chief Probation Officer with the Massachusetts Probation Service, while remaining committed to mentoring, veterans’ advocacy, and community service.
His journey from a decorated soldier to senior military leader and dedicated public servant reflects a lifetime of sacrifice, leadership, and compassion. The City of Lowell is grateful for his contributions and the lasting legacy he continues to build in our community.
Thank you, Sergeant Major Musgray, for your service, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment to others. by @mayorgitschier
