I went to the Boys & Girls Club of Chester for the COSI and Boeing STEM event to see over 50 engaged students explore six career stations and hands-on activities. Then, the geek in me took over when I saw the virtual reality headset and had to try it! 🤓

So nice to see our young people try new things and imagine where their curiosity could take them. I hope they left inspired to keep exploring and to let their inner geek shine. 🚀 by @mayorroots

Talked a lot of trash this week. I was honored to return to speak to Team Green and others at Maris Grove in Glen Mills about the impact of the Reworld incinerator on our community and to learn about their efforts to reduce waste going there by recycling and composting. I truly appreciate their commitment to the environment and to our community. by @mayorroots

Attended the Stop Trashing Our Air Press Conference at Phila. City Hall with a message to the Mayor and City Council: Stop burning your trash in Chester and vote no to renewing the Reworld contract! I hope they heard my message. by @mayorroots

It was a pleasure welcoming this awesome group of new Chester Charter Scholars Academy (CCSA) teachers and staff to Chester City Hall during their tour of our city. I wish them a productive and successful school year as they educate, inspire, and support Chester’s young scholars. Welcome to Chester, and have a great year! by @mayorroots

It was my absolute pleasure to spend time with these young men at the MACG ROAR Camp and give them a look at city government and my role as Mayor.

I hope they walked away with a better understanding of how local government works and will remain engaged, productive citizens who share what they’ve learned with others. Our young people are Chester’s future, and that future is bright! by @mayorroots

We're about two-thirds of the way through our Mayor's Safe Summer Series, and I couldn't be more grateful for the incredible turnout we've seen across Chester!

Seeing neighbors reconnect, kids laughing and playing, families making memories, and our communities coming together has been the highlight of my summer. Thank you to everyone who has come out and made these block parties so special.

We're not done yet! We have four more stops to go, and I hope to see you there. If we haven't made it to your neighborhood yet, we're on our way!

Let's keep the momentum going and finish the summer Chester strong! 🎉 by @mayorroots

Stay safe, Chester!
DEP declares a statewide Code Red 🔴 Air Quality Action Day for particulate matter (PM2.5) for Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Wildfire smoke from Canada and Minnesota will be entering Pennsylvania’s northernmost counties and pushing into southern counties Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, creating Code Red concentrations of PM2.5.
Residents and businesses within the Air Quality Alert areas are strongly encouraged to voluntarily help reduce fine particulate matter air pollution by:
- Avoiding the use of gas-powered lawn and garden equipment;
- Reducing or eliminating fireplace and wood stove use; and
- Avoiding the open burning of leaves, trash, and other materials
Residents are strongly encouraged to check www.airnow.gov for current conditions in their area and limit outdoor activities.
