Happy new moon 🌊🌚🪩🩶🛸 y’all I have been locked in. I made a decision in April that I will be releasing my extremely long awaited debut project — Ruled by the Moon — on my birthday this year, July 10. Since then, I have been calling on every resource I have to achieve what is only now starting to feel possible. Trusting God, trusting my community, circulating wealth, and trusting God some more. I am becoming the woman I have always dreamed of being and I’m feeling obsessed with myself, my growth, my forward movement, obsessed w what God can do in your life when you put you full faith in him and pursue your purpose like your life depends on it bc it literally does. I have been moving at a speed I didn’t think was possible and won’t ever be able to go back 🐎❤️‍🔥. The people that have come into my life as a result of this endeavor impress me and expand me beyond measure. I am so grateful, and so excited, Alhamdullilah for it all. LA save the date JULY 10 it’s a Friday nightttt and we planning a partyyyyy 🪩🩶🌚🛸

On my album “RULED BY THE MOON” I talk a lot about being chosen, which sounds cuteeee when I sing it, but in reality being chosen—to follow God’s word, to break generational curses, to pursue purpose to the fullest extent— in my experience, is deeply lonely and characterized by immense suffering. Allah could fill an ocean with the tears I’ve cried pursuing the path to my destiny. I remember when I first started singing like 10 years ago, I’d have these insane tantrums where I felt suicidal because I couldn’t express myself through singing the way I knew I was meant to, my voice felt blocked and I wanted to sing so bad I felt I’d die if I couldn’t. 7hamdullilah I literally can now ☺️ and always improving and I’m grateful for that and try to use my gift every single day. I’ve been turning to scripture so much lately to make sense of my life—the pain, the loneliness, the never fitting in anywhere, the mountain to success I’ve been climbing for years but still feels like I haven’t moved at all. “Oh Maryam! Surely Allah has selected you, purified you, and chosen you over all women of the world” (Quran 3:42). Maryam (َلَيْهَا السَّلَام) was literally alone under a tree in the worst pain imaginable in a situation that made no worldly sense and had to trust God’s will, His word and His plan. She was a true woman of God, and that suffering was the purification that made her worthy and able to steward God’s blessings for her life, of becoming the most famous and influential woman in the history of the world. Anyway hiii I’m Mayoush, if you are new here I make freedom music for the revolution, for my divas following the straight path or whatevaaa, you know the vibes follow me if you resonate 🤍🪽 by @mayoush.lsd

Serving while I waiiit (get it?) 💁‍♀️⭐️ but fr when the time comes that I do become a star you will know it was Allah bc rn it looks pretty impossible, sometimes singing for my tables as a waitress is the only time I get to see people respond to my voice in real time but honestly I wouldn’t trade this stage of my journey for anything. I don’t feel in a rush, just hope I am living in alignment and pleasing God on the journey. Please consider buying my album RULED BY THE MOON to help me raise money to buy a new computer!!!! I’ll give this until my heart gives out 🤍 by @mayoush.lsd

It was a perfect day 🧡🌺🌅🌇 I touched down in the Chi 6 PM on a Friday in September and 6 AM next morning met up with @ambercita to shoot for Ruled by the Moon at the Adler Planetarium in my favourite city. Then I walked 3 hours along the path back home to Hyde Park stopping to be present with the wildlife, bussin south side culture, swim in Lake Michigan & thank Allah for bringing me here. A snapshot of my dream life—early mornings for prayer & making art, doing what it takes, long lasting creative relationships, family, good food, sunrise, sunset, appreciating Mother Earth in all her beauty 🌍 she gives and gives to us even though we don’t deserve her. This was a perfect day 🧡🌺🌅🌇 by @mayoush.lsd
