I came across @oterawat food art a few years ago — still, yet full of energy. I stalked his work quietly, waiting for the right collaboration.

I created this series for @anglothai working with multi disciplinary artist Terawat Teankaprasith (Oterawat) and John Chantarasak @englishhippy, to continue its support of contemporary Thai designers in a new medium. Inspired by old ’80s restaurant food posters, the works are shaped through Oterawat’s lens and AngloThai’s design elements and seasonal ingredients.

The first time I saw these clouds, I knew they were meant for @mommypais
They’re made using a traditional process — a tar base with a silver sheet molded on top, hammered for hours into whimsical shapes based on traditional Thai cloud illustrations. taken in Mommy Pai's by @mayredding

@mommypais has arrived! The design brief from Ann & Matt ❤️ was to create a to-go chicken spot just down the street from their restaurant @thaidiner. Same same but very different.

The space takes cues from the wooden houses and roadside huts scattered across Thailand. I wanted the storefront to feel cartoon-like in its proportions — inspired by Beetlejuice’s miniature village and fueled by watching Cool World - a lot.

Many of the wood details and hand hammered silver clouds came straight from Thailand, setting the stage for the real Thai Star —Mommy Pai. My mother was finally getting a space in her namesake after years of not so gently chiding us for naming Ann & Matt’s first restaurant after her beloved brother in law @uncleboons #xoxoMommyLovesYou taken in Mommy Pai's by @mayredding
