This was such a beautiful collaboration with my girl @chisalinto 🤍

She brought the vision to life through the design and fashion illustration, and I had the pleasure of bringing that vision off the page and into a garment.

From sketch to finished piece, watching it all come together was such a joy, but seeing our client this happy with the final look? That’s the real win. 🥹

🎣 Casting Roots: Africa’s Aquatic Tales 🌊

This collection is a visual exploration of Africa’s fishing heritage, reinterpreted for contemporary design. Fishing, one of humanity’s earliest crafts, has shaped African survival, culture, and storytelling for over 90,000 years — from the Katanga expeditions in Congo to the Argungu Festival in Nigeria. More than sustenance, it has always been a symbol of pride, community, and continuity.

Inspired by African line art (Nsibidi), the fish motif is reimagined through elongated, repeated forms, not drawn literally, but abstracted into symbolic visual language. Across African cultures, fish symbolize life, fertility, abundance, and balance with nature values this collection carries forward.

✨ The Prints
🐟 Catch – fish caught in handwoven nets, celebrating craft and sustenance.
🌊 Casting Lines – minimal blue stripes that transform into fishing lines and waves.
🐚 Currents – coral-like textures and rippling forms, alive with movement and freedom.

At its core, Casting Roots is about transforming an ancient practice of survival into a modern aesthetic of pride, empowerment, and freedom — bridging past and present through design.
