Now with more men!* Judy's lovely boys are back and things are looking rather queer. The famous Manhattan "lunch break poet" Frank O'Hara will be honored and maybe even interrogated at Pope House's private downstairs bar. Poems will be randomly drawn out of a hat just to add an extra level of anxiety for the readers. Come enjoy the coziness of NW Portland in the fall! This event is free, so make sure to tip your bartender HANDSOMELY.

*The terms "men" and "boys" are loosely defined. taken in The Pope House Bourbon Lounge by @maywallpress

First anniversary reading. A whole year of togetherness. Time flies when you're Blooming! I've assembled a cast of powerful personalities to read published poets that I've assigned to them. This is Judy Thorn's very special show full of wonders. We'll have more seating than usual and I'd love to see some fancy outfits. WELCOME TO MY TRANSGENDER POETRY READING SERIES. My sacred mission is to take poetry away from snobs and give it to my friends and their friends.

Any donations will help me keep entertaining the masses for another year

Our iconic reading at Word Virus. I refused to let go of that damn can! #Joner

I loved reading my short story about trying and failing to be a sugar baby when I was 25. Should I write a sequel? Fiction is so much fun. Poetry, watch your back hun! Short stories might be coming for your gig! The last thing we need is for me to start doing autofiction again. #Real

HIRE THESE WRITERS! They're young, fertile and looking for opportunities! @kayanoteboom @vi.phobic taken in Three Girls Media, Inc. by @maywallpress

Vol. XI brings us poetic works from Jaye, Josephine, and Jillian, followed by a double music bill featuring Russia (from LA) and Mealworm (from here). My sis Chloe is doing the Community Poem, which is all about how to throw the perfect party. Let’s be crazy! This is the one night of the month we get to Bloom each other off without shame!

Bloomers Poetry Club is a traveling literary cabaret funded and sustained entirely by me and you. This month we’re raising money for someone in my family who is at risk of homelessness. You can donate $5-20 at the door, OR bring drinks to share with everyone. If money is tight but you have a bottle of wine at home, just bring that instead! NOTAFLOF, obviously.

This event is not wheelchair accessible
Masks are not required

May Wall Press presents three works by three local writers in the upstairs gallery at Word Virus, Portland's most "if you know you know" bookstore and event space.

Kaya Noteboom @kayanoteboom is a writer often found entering or exiting rooms. She is co-host of Access Code, a monthly critical theory and cultural criticism reading group, and recently launched the Perfect Medium reading series with Fonograf Editions.

Judy Thorn @judyinterrupted is a writer with good manners. She is editor of May Wall Press and curator of Bloomers Poetry Club, a monthly poetry cabaret for emerging writers and artists in Portland. She was going to be on Think Out Loud, but it was cancelled last minute.

Violet Pitsker @vi.phobic is a writer whose favorite flower is not a violet, but a daphne. She is a McCormack Writing Center scholar and is working on her first novel. by @maywallpress

One of the best parts of running a #shemale literary project is the growing collection of printed matter my friends and collaborators have given me! We all need to be making chapbooks and zines #bytheway and it's easy! You can go to IPRC or if you're like me you can print your first book at FedEx for some reason and spend an arm and a leg. I believe we will print ourselves into another world. by @maywallpress

Thank you so much for joining us! I think there were about 50 people there last night just to hear my 10 gallant gentlemen reading Rilke! At the height of summer in the year 2026, this is happening. It was sweaty, but my events always are. Cheers to @popehousebourbonlounge for having us, we shall return in the fall with an even larger cast of dashing dandies. Are YOU a handsome young man* who has a desire for the spotlight? Get in touch.

*The terms "young" and "man" are open to interpretation. by @maywallpress
