The little red horse that could.

I spent a lot of time trying to “train” you. Ultimately the partnership was what really mattered most. Once the trust was there, you’d do anything for me. And the feeling was, and still is, mutual. Thank you for your belief in me, Cop. Love you long time.

I’ve officially been leaving for the barn at the same time every morning long enough that I recognize the runners and dog walkers by where they are on the road. 😂

Same coffee. Same drive. Same early start.

Apparently I really am a creature of habit.

Good thing horses tend to reward that. 💚 by @mbequestrian

A few key themes from today’s dressage clinic…

• Prepare the transition before you ask for it. Find the suppleness first, then keep riding all the way through the transition.

• Before asking for more, make sure you can move the horse clearly from both your inside and outside aids. Being able to place the body makes everything else easier.

• In turns, think about where your own body is going. Let the inside hip lead so your alignment helps show the horse where to go.

Different horses, different riders, but a lot of the same questions kept showing up all day—and at every level.

Sure love a fun day of teaching. 💚 by @mbequestrian

Found these from a little schooling show last spring… @madisonzgutowicz @laurenzsellshouses

At the time, I was a couple months pregnant with Aubrey and mostly focused on making it through the day without throwing up. 😅

One of my favorite parts of this job has always been getting to know different horses—figuring out what makes them tick, what builds their confidence, and how to bring out the best in them.

Some days that means competing your own horse. Some days it means catching a ride on a student’s horse and having a little fun.

Either way, I still think it’s pretty special. 💚 by @mbequestrian

One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned is that not every horse needs something from you right now.

Some need miles.
Some need fitness.
Some need education.

And some just need time.

Selah’s job this summer is pretty simple: be a horse.

Eat. Make friends. Learn where the good grass is.

Every now and then I catch myself wondering what she’ll want to be and feeling ready to get started. Then I get an update on her (thank you @4hooveshoofcare !) and remember there’s really no rush.

The horses don’t care about our timelines.

And honestly, they’re usually right. 💚 by @mbequestrian

We’ve started the summer schedule and Leo would like everyone to know that 6:30 AM is unnecessary.

Personally, I love it.

Leo disagrees.

So this week we’re doing lots of hacking, lots of transitions, and having repeated conversations about going forward.

Glamorous? No.

Important? Definitely.

So the entire GWIF Groupies setup last weekend was dragons, fire, and complete purple mayhem… which Foxy absolutely did not appreciate 😂🦊🔥

He actually busted loose the first day and spent most of the weekend convinced the decorations were trying to kill him 😅

But when it was competition time he remembered he’s actually really good at this job… and looked ridiculously handsome doing it 😍

Really fun weekend at Stable View. Kinda wish we were doing it again next weekend 💪🏼 @atltarheel13 @gowithitfarm taken in Stable View by @mbequestrian

Foxy was such a good partner last weekend 🦊🦊🦊

First time back at this level in a few years, and he stepped up in every way—especially in tough conditions ☔️☔️☔️

It meant a lot hearing from so many people in the sport how good it was to see me back out there… I’ve missed it.

Huge thank you to Heather for all of her support and help getting us here, and to Halliea for always dreaming and scheming with me 💚 @atltarheel13 @gowithitfarm

Getting back out there—this time with Leo.

First show together ✔️

Not perfect, but exactly where we need to be.

I’m learning him, he’s learning me, and we’re building it step by step.

After everything the past couple years, it feels really good to be back in the ring—on one that’s been growing slowly in the background.

Not chasing anything, just focused on doing it right. 💚
