Mbuchi también tiene una casa en el aire a través de las ondas radiofónicas! (English below) Cada viernes presentaremos Roaring Winds Radio, un espacio con grabaciones de campo, conversaciones, performances y música que trazan el mapa de nuestra familia y amistades transatlánticas a través del océano.

Para nuestra primera emisión este viernes 16 de octubre,tenemos el honor de contar con Rosa Contreras (aka DJ Invitada Especial) desde Ciudad Neza. Rosa es selectora, coleccionista de discos y exploradora musical de Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México. Su selección recorre ritmos latinos, sonidos globales y música bailable, inspirada en la experiencia surrealista de vivir en México, incluyendo la mierda y la fortuna de lo que eso significa.

Mbuchi also has a house in the air through the radio waves! Every Friday we will present Roaring Winds Radio, a space with field recordings, conversations, performances and music that trace the map of our family and transatlantic friendships across the ocean.

For our first broadcast, we have the honor of having Rosa Contreras (aka Special Guest DJ) from Ciudad Neza. Rosa is a collector, record collector and musical explorer from Nezahualcóyotl, State of Mexico. His selection goes through Latin rhythms, global sounds and danceable music, inspired by the surreal experience of living in Mexico, including the shit and the fortune of what that means.

Mbuchi nennen David Habets und Eva Posas ihr Familienkollektiv, gemeinsam mit Bigu, ihrem Kind. In Mexiko und den Niederlanden verwurzelt, ist ihre Praxis von einer transkontinentalen Drift geprägt. In Irland war der Wind ein beständiger Begleiter. Ihre Arbeit „Roaring Winds“ entfaltet sich in zwei Strängen: einem Radiosender, über Land und Meer getragen, und einer fotografischen Installation.

Mbuchi is what David Habets and Eva Posas call their family collective, together with Bigu, their child. Rooted in Mexico and the Netherlands, their practice is marked by a transcontinental drift. In Ireland the wind was a constant presence. Their work ‘Roaring Winds’ unfolds along two strands: a radio station carried across land and sea and a photographic installation.

‘The Glenkeen Variations: Aftergrowth’ presents works by 20 artists from the Glenkeen Garden Residencies 2024 and 2025.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for “nesting” 🪺

“nesting” is a performative reading about the housing situation in the Netherlands, the nest-building practices of local birds, and the characters that inhabit the residual spaces of Fantascope discs, an early precursor to animation. 🦋

nesting was born from the collaboration and shared complicity between @evaposas, @davidhabets , and Bigu, as part of the second session of @mbuchi_house.🏡

Wind travels across the oceans continuously. Before ships, spores of many forms of life have crossed between continents through the air. Wind sets in motion the invisible space where language moves, like radio waves that carry transatlantic conversations.

Rooted in the windswept trips through the Southern Irish fields of our family collective Mbuchi, this project unfolds ideas and reflections on air, breathing, language, invisibility, radio, lichen, and their interconnectedness.

Some weeks ago, at the @goetheinstitut_irland in Dublin, we presented a low-frequency-range antenna kite and a small emergency radio. This is the first installment of Roaring Winds Radio, a series that imagines a space made of air, moving between continents, in and out of lungs, healthy and sickly; air that represents the freedom to move between worlds.

The installation builds on the history of transatlantic radio signaling, referencing the kites used by radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi in his early experiments. The lines on the silkscreen-printed kite, made of conductive ink, draw an abstract lichen and serve as an antenna.

This kite antenna is the first piece of a remote broadcasting setup and marks the beginning of a long-term radio platform where we play, share, and enjoy alongside other dear people, voices, and sounds around us. Please check mbuchi.com to learn more about upcoming mbuchi transmissions.

MBUCHI House#2 : 𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

👉🏾𝙋𝙡𝙯 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙢 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 - 𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙗𝙞𝙤🪺

Mbuchi is the first word of Bigu. It is world(s), it is anything you want to express, it is mutual understanding. It is also a gezin collective. 𝗠𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗶 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 is the complicity of an intimate encounter by sharing a hallway, a kitchen and a garden. It is gathering in the fortunate moments we can.

For the #2 session, we’re absolutely thrilled to present 𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, with 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗰í𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗼. 𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 is a performative reading that brings together stories shaped by the desire to find a place to nest. Through a children’s story and shadow play, Amauta and David will share their search for housing, something that has been followed throughout their family histories. Now in the Netherlands, the search for a house has become especially intense, revealing itself as a global, intimate, and generational point of reflection on what it means to have a home.

Amauta García and David Camargo are Mexican artists based in the Netherlands. They work with action-research and collaborative methods at the intersection of architecture, sculpture, moving image, and storytelling. Their projects focus on untold narratives of urban extractivism and environmental affectivity, in territories where the land is overexploited to sustain cities, from real estate speculation to underwater natural gas extraction.

𝗠𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗶 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 happens in Scheveningen🌊, very close to the beach. You can have a day in the dunes and later, around 16:30, ring the bell to join us for some storytelling about nests.The performance will start at 17:00 followed by a meal prepared by David and David.

MBUCHI#1 : a tear, drowning a river, drowning an ocean
Saturday, 26th July, 16:30 - 20:00

Since we moved here, it has been a dream of ours to share our home for performative gatherings and to share a meal in intimacy. And now, finally, we decided to start, just the way life flows.

𝘔𝘣𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘪 is the way we call our family as a collective: David, Eva and Bigu, our turtle love, who also invented the word. It was the first one that Bigu used frequently to name the world, to claim it his own. It didn't have a specific meaning. It could be anything and yet, we understood it well. That’s why this word is so dear to us, it implies a mutual understanding beyond any official language. Here, 𝘔𝘣𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘪, signifies the complicity of an intimate encounter by sharing a hallway, a garden and a table. Just like we do with our (chosen) families, in the fortunate moments we can.

We have the honor to start 𝗠𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗶 #𝟭 with 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 by 𝗙𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝘃𝗶. He will be thinking and working through tears, the notions of tearing up and tearing down. Fazal will be turning to shia rituals of mourning and remembering, in an attempt to turn and return to the body – and to the earth body. Mourning here would be seen as a form of flooding and witnessing, and would simultaneously also serve as a means of cleansing, repair and renewal.

Fazal’s lecture performance will be centered and structured around the traditions of marsiya and soz khwani, which are poetic and performative traditions that have developed within South Asia, archiving stories of resistance from the battle of Karbala. He will activate and think through the element of water as it journeys across time and place, from its molecular form to more oceanic and emotional state/s.

You could have a day on the beach and later around 16:30, ring the bell to join us, to listen, to shed and collect tears. The lecture performance will start at 17:00 followed by a meal prepared by Fazal and David. 💧
