I’m very happy for my competition even though everything didn’t go the way we wanted, but we just have to keep working harder. I would like to thank my coach, girlfriend, family, friends and all the people who organized the event. Thank you very much and I just have to say expect the best from me in the future, I will not stop until I give some international medals to this great country 🤝🫡 muchas gracias ❤️ by @mcauser82

Being a coach is something that I have enjoyed for over 20 years! Seeing people achieve things that they never thought was possible. The transformation for many have been incredibly. This is something that I’m very passionate about. I’m currently looking for those that would like to transform both physically and mentally. If that is potential you, please reach out or drop me a DM. #coach #weightlifting #strength #mindset #growth #transformation taken in London, United Kingdom by @mcauser82

Nothing’s ever perfect. And it doesn’t need to be.

Every session, every lift, every attempt gives us feedback.

The goal isn’t to get everything right. It’s to understand what’s happening, learn from it, and use that information to build the capacity and skill to become better.

Progress isn’t about perfection. It’s about what you do with the feedback.

Capacity → Skill → Results.

The power position is not a shape.

It’s what is left over from everything that happened before it: how you balanced off the floor, where the bar travelled, when the knees came back under.

That is why it can look sharp at 60% and disappear at 90%. The picture changed because something earlier changed. Cueing “hit the position” only describes the symptom.

So before the next cue, ask a better question.

Capacity: can the athlete support and express the position under this load?
Skill: can they coordinate the movements that lead into it?
Task demands: how has the heavier bar changed the strategy?

Observe. Diagnose. Intervene. Retest.

Technique is evidence, not diagnosis.

Coaches and lifters: when your positions change as the bar gets heavier, what is the first thing you look at, and why? Tell me below.

Save this for your next video review.

Get into the right position. Repeat it. Then repeat it again.

Each lift builds the capacity to hold that position and the skill to find it when the weight gets heavier.

Capacity and skill will always dictate your results.

Hard work alone isn’t enough. You need to understand where you are, identify what is limiting you, and then build the capacity and skills required to move forward.

Capacity might mean greater strength, better fitness, improved mobility, or more efficient movement. Skill is knowing how to apply those qualities effectively.

When you deliberately build both, you create the conditions for better results:

Capacity × Skill = Results

The goal isn’t simply to work harder. It’s to build the right qualities, practise the right skills, and create an environment in which improvement becomes inevitable. taken in London, United Kingdom by @mcauser82

For everyone who has been asking if I’ll be competing at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next week, here’s my answer.

Unfortunately, I won’t be competing.

For those who don’t know my story, I am a refugee athlete living in the UK, but I do not hold a British passport. That is one of the reasons why I am not eligible to compete.

The other reason is that international sport is governed by different federations and organisations, and we must respect their rules and decisions. At the moment, refugee athletes are not eligible to compete at the Commonwealth Games. The same applies to the European Championships, where I am also unable to compete for medals because of my refugee status.

I truly hope that one day this will change. Refugee athletes work just as hard, make the same sacrifices, and deserve the same opportunity to compete and represent the countries that have given them a new home.

To everyone who loves weightlifting, please support the athletes representing the team. I’ve had the privilege of training alongside them, and I know how much work they’ve put in. They are ready, and I wish every one of them the very best of luck.

As for me, I’ll keep working, I’ll keep believing, and I’ll keep chasing my dream. Hopefully, in 2030, I’ll have the honour of wearing that uniform and standing on the platform as part of the team.

Dreams don’t stop because the path is difficult. They only get stronger.

30+ years. Still lifting & Still love it!

If you’re 40 and think you’ve missed the window — you haven’t.
You’ve been sold training built for people with nothing to lose.
The barbell doesn’t have an age limit. Bad programming does.

The DB Clean Bulgarian Split Squat.
More than a leg exercise.
Done well, it trains:
• Coordination – timing the clean into the split squat.
• Positional strength – owning the bottom under load.
• Control – staying stable when the position wants to break.
• Explosive intent – driving hard out of the bottom, then resetting with purpose.
Not every accessory should copy the competition lifts. The best ones build the qualities that make those lifts better.
