Running is learning the notes and chords and Racing is learning how to string them together in a way that takes you to a new sense of being.
.
The race last night was tough. My goal was 16:15 and came I away with a 16:31 for the 5k.
.
The easy was showing up and giving my best and paying respect to those who came out to support it. You all made it worth the fight.

I’m not out here trying to be a fitness influencer. This might just be my midlife crisis… but I’m here for it. 😂💪

I’m doing this to be around longer, healthier, and more present for my family—and the future additions to our crew. I want more years with them and more life in those years.

If sharing my journey motivates a couple of people along the way, that’s a win. Everyone’s journey looks different, but it starts with YOU wanting to be better.

One of my best friends and an elite trainer, @mccaffrey_chris with @itzracing, and I completed HYROX Tampa. Our goal was to finish in under two hours. Secretly, I wanted 1:45… and we crossed the finish line at 1:49. I’m proud of that. 👊

I’m not a great runner, but we all have to start somewhere. There was a time I wouldn’t have even considered attempting something like this. Now I’m finishing it and looking for ways to get better.

Next up: Dallas and Nashville. I’m pushing myself to limits I didn’t know I had, learning as I go, and finding out how much more I’m capable of.

Some days feel great. Some days are a struggle. But I’m proud of the progress, and I’m excited to keep going.

If you want to follow along for the journey, come on. We’re just getting started. 💪 by @mccaffrey_chris

Still chasing podiums. Took 3rd 🥉 Overall in the @alteregorunning Ponte Vedra 10 Miler. Had challenging conditions and a lot of great racers out there. But the challenges make the finish lines even sweeter. Thanks to @1stplacesports for race setup and was happy to sweep the podium with other @1stplaceracing team members. Thanks to @itzracing for the coaching 💻 to keep this 39 year old feeling like he’s 29.

I’m back on racing on the roads again and the podium feels even better. I’ve been helping others in their running journeys and have missed my own personal running journey. I’m blessed to be nearing 40 and still have speed in this body. My run coaching business @itzracing has kept me motivated and relevant to staying focused on long term goals and not just short term success. This May marks 10 years in business and over 300 clients helped and I’m so grateful. Here’s to the next podium, the next 10 years, and the next 300+ clients.

Wow, 8 months have gone by with my girl Audrey.
This past week has been extra fun as we’ve gotten out and started our training for our Thanksgiving 5k.

We’ve practiced fueling, hydration strategies, and our smiles.

Our race plan is to not go out too fast and then slowly pick up the pace. We hope to see at least 5 dogs and 2 cats along the way. And we won’t forget to chew on our hand for at least 10 minutes.

Audrey is thankful for her classmates who make the days go by so fast, her teaches who help her learn new things, and her family for loving her along the way!

Running in the Alter Ego Running 10 Miler this weekend? If I was, this is how I would approach the race.

- Stay CALM and relaxed the 1st Mile. You're on a paved trail with minimal space with LOADs of other runners, seed yourself accordingly to your expected average pace

- Miles 1 & 2 are mostly downhill (40ft loss). Focus on easy running here, as the last 2 miles will be...you guessed it....UPHILL 40ft, but you love UPHILLs.

- After Mile 2 let's settle into our race pace.

- After the Turnaround and hoping our body is having a good day, let's gradually begin to increase the pace slightly over the next 3 miles. Don't be stagnant, be dynamic.

- We've done well, we're 8 miles in and just have the last 2 uphill miles, now it's time for us to RACE.

Have a Positive Mindset. Use Mantras.
These are what works for me...

- I'M SUPPOSE TO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE
- I've trained for this
- I can do it!

Best running regards,
Coach Macca

Loved connecting my daughter with my @lululemon family.

The tribe surrounding her will help teach her to be brave, inclusive, confident, and compassionate.

I will also do my best to make her proud of me and to always use patience, integrity, honesty, and love with all the things I will try and teach her.
