Talk of the Town (but I’m the Last to Know) #songwriter #americana #countrymusic

As a songwriter, you do everything you can to unfilter your thoughts and just let it come out. Whenever a “breakup” song pops out of my mouth, I think, “Well, is this genuine? I’ve been happy in love with my wife for 11 years. I guess I should only write happy songs and love tunes, right?” Blessed as I am to say that statement, I also think it can be a great exercise to reflect on the past. Just like everyone else, I’ve had my heart broken plenty of times on this long and winding road. So in these moments, I lean in, let the past come out, and hope it speaks to those on the mend.
