Here it is! @mlforged beveled head on a 28” French curve hickory handle with double bocote palm swells. This has a @gabes_throwfiles designer wedge keeping it all together. This one is staying in the collection. Thank you both! I am honored to have my work next to yours.

Also used @bossdogwoodglue to laminate the bacote palm swell.

Finished everything off with @realmilkpaintco dark tung oil and wood wax.

Introducing the first etched Flying Fox 🦊. Brought to you by @2511_woodworking, @mccookwoodworking, and @gabes_throwfiles

Andrew was kind enough to collab with me on this build. He secretly sent it off to @gabes_throwfiles to have a light clean up and poll bevels reset. I opened this on my birthday and was pleasantly surprised.

This haft finished out at 23”. Hickory with spalted cherry palm swells. Wedged with a piece of amazaque wood from Gabe. I am planning on doing more of these. If you are interested shoot me a message.

She’s did.
My finished contribution to the #AxeYankeeBenefit
.
Story time!
I wanted this piece to feel old.
Went hard on the dye, for a vintage color, worn feel.
Old greasy hands, years of use kind of thing.
.
This head was given to me by Josh, nasty chip at the bottom of the bit most would paint this a junk head.
I reprofiled the edge, dropped the chip, annealed and heat treated.
Added some stamps to make it fun again.
Corrected the mushroomed poll with hammer and anvil.
Don’t give up on something that has potential!
.
The handle started as Edith. graciously donated to me by our dude Paul @stumptownaxes
I took some creative license and thinned her down a bit and did some Glen things.
The dye job alone was an adventure.
.
I left as much color in the steel as I could manage!
Edge quenched, torch tempered eye.
Hot oil patina….
I’m not mad about it.

She’s in the oil soak.

Received a lovely gift in the mail today from my friend @mccookwoodworking
Beautiful hand made burl Canadian by @shertzercreative
And the first handmade pipe in my collection.
Accompanied by a fresh can of Brandywine Bridge by @thebriarfellowship
Burley,Virginia and black cavendish with Japanese plum extract providing a unique and lovely aromatic.
Fantastically smooth but not too sweet.
