I just received this custom built axe from Ethan McCook and boy did he deliver. The handle is perfect in Osage & bocote, it’s got a designer @gabes_throwfiles laminated wedge, custom leather mask and a @howlingwindsaxeandtool sharp enough to shave with edge ❤️

This will be kept safe and warm in my personal collection.

She’s did.
My finished contribution to the #AxeYankeeBenefit

Story time!
I wanted this piece to feel old.
Went hard on the dye, for a vintage color, worn feel.
Old greasy hands, years of use kind of thing.
.
This head was given to me by Josh, nasty chip at the bottom of the bit most would paint this a junk head.
I reprofiled the edge, dropped the chip, annealed and heat treated.
Added some stamps to make it fun again.
Corrected the mushroomed poll with hammer and anvil.
Don’t give up on something that has potential!

The handle started as Edith. graciously donated to me by our dude Paul @stumptownaxes
I took some creative license and thinned her down a bit and did some Glen things.
The dye job alone was an adventure.
.
I left as much color in the steel as I could manage!
Edge quenched, torch tempered eye.
Hot oil patina….
I’m not mad about it.

She’s in the oil soak.

All proceeds go to @axeyankee who has been nothing but kind, encouraging, supportive and a wealth of knowledge to everyone in this community…especially myself.

This was the last brown pigeon of 25’ and the first double bitted pigeon…it has been kept safe and warm in my own personal collection. I believe this was the piece that put me on Josh’s radar as well.

3.5lb Woodslasher Michigan with blue/red paint remnants
Fiber laser etched pigeon 🐦
Precision cnc milled jatoba haft
The curliest cherry I’ve ever used on the swell
Fancy laminated wedge
Custom fit and engraved leather mask (beware it features a bad word 🤫aimed at one eBay axe faking pos)

Received a lovely gift in the mail today from my friend @mccookwoodworking
Beautiful hand made burl Canadian by @shertzercreative
And the first handmade pipe in my collection.
Accompanied by a fresh can of Brandywine Bridge by @thebriarfellowship
Burley,Virginia and black cavendish with Japanese plum extract providing a unique and lovely aromatic.
Fantastically smooth but not too sweet.
