Out There! This brief was brief and a challenge only having the length of the album that was given by a friend. This was a real challenge but turned out nice. Really wanted to make a crest design finding a lot of different parts for inspiration. #sovereigntower #albumcoverdesign #graphicdesign #medevial by @mcgrpx
Hockey Season is back! I’ve missed it and hopefully it’ll be a better season for the Stars! With hockey been on my mind and had to get it out into something and had this idea inspired by sticker albums I loved as a kid while I was making these stickers I had starz in your eyes stuck in my head which kinda came up with putting stickers over their eyes but didn’t work as great on the poster but I do love the little showcase video, then I thought how could they use this poster for social posts at a game day so made a cool starting six design I think it brings a lot of personality and uniqueness for when they have themed nights like retro nights #icehockey #posterdesign #dundeestars #stickers #graphicdesign by @mcgrpx
He’s Alive!! Since coming off for the summer I’ve been in a bit of a creative slump, so me and a friend have been trying some challenges to help get out of it which leads us to this poster I was given the theme of Xbox 360 and a 3 column grid which isn’t the easiest of grids to work with but I wanted to recreate these extreme over the top imagery from adverts in the early 2000s, which led me down a rabbit hole of pushball and you wouldn’t expect a enormous ball to be behind the Xbox ball but there actually is! Hope you guys like! #posterdesign #graphicdesignchallenges #xbox360 by @mcgrpx
What a beauty! 😍 it was such an amazing feeling getting to see the van design I created for @farlanedonald here’s a few shots for the shoot today! #graphicdesign #vandesign #branddesign #construction #photography by @mcgrpx
Do you hate when a family member sends you Ai videos of ice cream dogs? Well now you can send them a postcard to tell them how you feel about that video! Had a few hours watching @kelliotpod and joined in for once making a wee funny post card using the images and text. I made a cute family portrait on their rainbow sound horse as they play their tunes to deter people of using AI! @elliotisacoolguy @kel.lauren #kelliott #postcarddesign #photoshop #kelliotsaidso #graphicdesign by @mcgrpx
Y2U4 - Yer Maw Zine In Collaboration with @carlymenmuir We had to make a Zine with the theme of Food with this theme we cooked up the idea of junk food addicted seagull as we follow him roaming the skies of Arbroath looking for another hit! Some say this is based on a true story, others wouldn’t believe… Yer Maw now roams free on a post in Edinburgh on the royal mile Enjoy some of my favourite pages from the zine! Also do have some spare copies if anyone’s interested! #zine #graphicdesign #zinemaking #seagull #comicbookart by @mcgrpx
Y2U3 Wake Up! Book Cover Design This book cover was designed for “Tachen” celebrating the filmography of award winning director Spike Lee! Layout of the cover was inspired by his iconic cinematography and boldness as a director and storyteller. The title references his message he tells the audience in all his films “Wake Up!”. Lee as a director is authentic, controversial, provocative and to reflect that I wanted a typeface that wasn’t perfect it had to be gritty but bold! #spikelee #bookcoverdesign #typographydesign #graphicdesign #taschen by @mcgrpx
Client Work - Farlane Donald Finished up working with these guys again! So much more to show you’s! But for now here’s some amazing wee keyrings I made for them using 3mm acrylic and laser cutting these turned out so amazing! #branding #graphicdesign #keyring #freelance #logodesigning by @mcgrpx
Raye tickets 🎟️ As a graphic designer you have a great skill of making gifts and my favourite thing is to make things for my girlfriend, she loves Raye and I didn’t just want to give her boring old email forward of the digital tickets so I decided to make my own inspired by her branding for her tour with my own twist and inspiration from retro ticket when tickets were actually cool and a piece of art! Thanks Ticketmaster for ruining fun 🤩 I didn’t know how to show these off so thought I’d have a bit of fun animating in photoshop and turned out not so bad Enjoy! 😄 #raye #ticketdesign #graphicdesign #stopmotion #thistourmaycontainnewmusic by @mcgrpx
Branding work for @farlanedonald ⚒️ The guys over at Farlane Donald contacted me to design their branding for their company! While I walked into our first meeting unsure of the direction they would go, I walked out knowing they were determined to do something different. When you have two clients wanting very different things your hands feel tied… at first mine did too but with our meetings I was able to get down to what the companies core values, goals and long term vision are as well as their story. Farlane Donald aren’t just your ordinary joinery and construction company - they’re so much more than that! They wanted branding which translated the boldness and prestige they were committing too. They wanted their identity to be something a client would feel proud to associate with! Feeling that they reached their potential in previous work, hearing their story I wanted to focus on capturing that drive for growth, resilience, and adaptability. The tern symbol reflects that ambition, also as a metaphor for the company’s evolution. The contour lines support the tern visually throughout the companies branding keeping it consistent. The combination of Dark Teal and Orange creates a striking contrast that offers a fresh perspective that challenges the conventional colour palette associated with this industry. Collaborating closely with Farlane Donald through regular meetings really made the hard work fun and easy. It benefitted me as I got feedback on concepts and mock ups. However, Farlane Donald also benefitted through having continuous insight into the development of their brand identity so they could freely express questions and opinions. #mcgrpx #farlanedonald #graphicdesign #branddesign #constructionbranding by @mcgrpx
Y2U2 - Collaborative Type Design Another project completed! This time it was Team Project designing a typeface this is Passcode which is a modular built font using a grid structure based of an iPhone passcode. Here’s our type specimen poster to showcase our design. Specimen was made using waterless lithography and hand rolled on to 3mm acrylic plastic sheet, then laser cut to replicate the iPhone screen. Enjoy! #typedesign #typespecimen #waterlesslithography #printingpress by @mcgrpx
Y2U1 - Overheard Conversations First project of University Completed, this is my 8 page Publication the images used were based of the visual constraint of a triangular composition, and with these photos I gathered overheard conversations from these locations captured with my camera to give the images more depth to them. The text layout also follows more like dialogue visualised on to paper rather than more normal way text is set. Enjoy! #graphicdesign #publicationdesign #pagelayout #overheardconversations by @mcgrpx
