Hi friends! I wanna share my INSTAGRAM RECITAL after participating in the so deep and mind expanding school of song course with Flying Lotus. This is called CURVED AIR IN A BOOKSHOP

A little bit about the piece. I went to a book tour event(Dash Shaw and Jesse Moynihan at Heavy Manners) recently and they were playing a Terry Reily record in the shop. It felt so dreamy, but upon initial listen I couldn’t place it. I feel like i’ve never listened to this record in public. It had this totally weird disarming and kinda wonderful effect on me. It got me thinking about old friends and listening to music on purpose together. For the recording I pulled out some old tape manipulation stuff i did with harp (Mary Lattimore) and flute (Leah Paul) for a performance many years back (as part of echo society family VI, October 2017 event at the paramour estate) and made something new in ableton. by @mcintoshhhh

AWFC MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: A Q&A with Heather McIntosh

“It’s really important to do what you love even if you aren’t getting paid for it. Writing music with all my friends and touring around the country in an econoline van and sleeping on floors was what I loved, and working at coffee shops and the video store allowed me to do that. It didn’t make me less of a musician and I met a lot of dear friends and collaborators in those places. That’s good to keep in mind if you are starting out as a composer as well. If you are working other jobs to make your music, you are still a composer. If you are writing music you are a composer.”

What a fun surprise!!!! Lainey Wilson : Keepin Country Cool, directed by Amy Scott is eligible for Outstanding Music Composition For A Documentary/Nonfiction Or Reality Program (Original Dramatic Score).

The score featuring dear friends guitarist William Tyler, Harpist Mary Lattimore, Louisa Byron on Fiddle, Dylan Ryan on drums and me on the cello, is intimate, acoustic and a little bit raw which speaks toward Lainey’s heart.
