Foundry # 53

The McNelly Bliss has been my favourite bridge pickup for about a decade now. It sounds great clean or with tons of fuzz and distortion.

I was never a Strat guy, but the McNelly Nostalgia made me a believer. I feel like I finally heard what everyone else was talking about.

With series/parallel switching, and a switch for out of phase, there are a lot of options packed into this seemingly simple offset.

Did you know why it’s called the Duel Blade?? I want to hear your input. And I’ll be honest… building them with the cloth wire looks super clean.👌 by @mcnellypickups

Did you know we have a section on the website called curbside pickups? Discounted goods that aren’t quite new, or in perfect condition, or odd custom one-offs. There are a few new items that were just added. They just want to go make music and you could make that happen for them. ❤️

If you like the Duel Blade and are interested in the saga, good news! The new bobbins arrived after some hang ups with shipping. They are thankfully the correct parts! It seems the issue with malformed injections was solved too so we have… an abundance of them. This pickup was assembled with the new parts and new design. Everything fits together really smoothly. So much better than the previous design without having to change any of the fundamental characteristics of it. I’m pumped to see this coming together. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, watch the video from last week.

Sign up to our email list for the earliest announcement when they’re reintroduced online.

I heard that a lot of you enjoy some backstory and seeing how things are done here. Well buckle up! It’s old school long-form rambling for this update on the Duel Blade Tele pickup. I’ll keep it to 3 minutes next time. by @mcnellypickups

We still stamp our own boxes. A few years ago, I started down the road of having custom printing and cutting inserts. In the end, this still worked best for the variety of things that we pack in them. Plus it feels personal. I’d love to know your thoughts on packaging. Do you like a personal feel? Prefer more polish? by @mcnellypickups

The first Duel Blade I ever sold was to @sljguitars over 10 years ago. He still has it in his #1. You should check out his page if you haven’t already. It’s a fun pickup and has been popular over the years but it always presented some challenges with production. So last year, I took it off of the website while I sorted out tooling, parts sourcing, etc. I wanted to solve the challenges without changing the heart of the design. I got there and the Duel Blade is coming back. ❤️ by @mcnellypickups

Another blinged out Nesher for the books. This design seems to attract all the sparkle finishes…and I don’t hate it 🤷🏼‍♂️ 1 piece mahogany body with maple top, @lambertones_pickups and @mcnellypickups pickups, @tonepros bridge and Duesy Bigsby make it sound as it good it looks taken in Richland, Washington by @mcnellypickups

Bassists don’t always get as much special treatment with cool pickups. I’m excited to see these come together. @slugger_instruments brought some ideas and we turned them into reality. by @mcnellypickups
