An excerpt from Newsletter 12, a story about my Friday morning with Lou 🌲

“This morning I took Lou, our one - almost two - year old up to the forest. It was a bit gloomy down in the city when we left, but the forest sits up in the hills not far away, and the sun was out as we pulled into the car park. He donned his shark boots, ready for our morning expedition.

Three minutes into our ‘walk’ he asked for a snack. “NACK NACK”. I had come unusually prepared with a lunch book full of things, and negotiated with him that we’d open it when we got to a little wooden shelter about 100m away. We got there, eventually, and he shoved half a jam sandwich into his mouth, minus a load of jam which remained on his fingers…”

Some more images from a roll of Ultramax 400 I shot on day one of the third test, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 vs 🇵🇰 at Edgbaston 🏏

This is my 9th roll of film, and I I’m really loving it. The process, the unknowns, the presence, the results 🎞️👌

Day one of the 3rd test match between England and Pakistan, at Edgbaston, on 35mm 🎞️🏏

Shed loads of wickets, some ominous clouds, but no rain delays and I love how the film pulled out the greens and greys ☁️

I shot a roll of black and white film in London a couple of weeks ago. I’d never shot in B&W before - and what I found really weird was the fact that the world is still in colour when you look through that viewfinder - so I really had no idea how it’d all turn out…

Spoiler, I’m low key obsessed 🖤🤍

I write about my experience of black and white film in my latest newsletter - link in bio if you’d like to subscribe to future editions 🔗

London on film 🎞️

I took a few of these before dinner, and then almost didn’t go back down to the river again - but I did, and I’m very glad for that decision 🌆

[So annoyed I missed focus on the last one tho 🙄]

Dawlish Warren on film 🎞️

I love the Warren - a micro-resort trapped in time, leading to an incredible beach, nature reserve and dunes 🏖️

Second posting from a roll of B&W film taken in London a couple of weeks ago 🖤🤍

These are all landscape images - I find myself shooting more in landscape on my Pentax ME Super than with my digital Fuji, which I like.

Extra love to those who can name the tube station in the last photo 🚇

I’m not sure if the Mid-Devon Show uses the slogan “there’s something for everyone” - but if they don’t, they bloody should 🐄🚗🚜🪂🦁🐾🥕🚲🚌🎡☀️

Bit of a photo dump from roll no.5 in my film camera journey, using my grandads inherited 1990s Canon point and shoot ❤️

My 4th roll of film was in black and white, shot in London 🎞️ I’ve never shot in black and white before - not with digital, not with film. I struggle to detach myself from seeing the colour of the things I’m looking at - and found it so hard to ‘imagine’ what the images would turn out like, diluted of it 🌈

That said - I really like some of the results. I’m going to chuck a few posts up of almost all the shots I got with this film, as a reminder to myself that black and white CAN be fun and ISN’T scary 🖤🤍
